Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Recovery

I quit during the pandemic. It was nice to give them a big F U! I thought I would leave and be free of the emotional distress. It’s taken me months to recover and I didn’t even know I needed time. Today, I can’t handle stress. I can’t do overtime. I get anxious. My stomach hurts. Did you feel the same way? What has helped you?

This job changed me and I don’t like it.

Yes, I'm experiencing this currently. I'm one of the only Asian Americans on the team for National and I'm getting bullied, mistreated, yelled at for mistakes they are making. I've made reports to HR but I'm just now getting retaliation. It is toxic here. And they do not live up to their culture or mission.

I have to concur with the comments made here about bullying and PTSD - I have experienced both. I have never worked in a more toxic environment. Promotions are given to those who suck up to and stroke management’s ego with no regard for competence or ability. United is so proud of their culture but they should take a long hard look at what’s going on - threats, yelling, intimidation all part of the “culture” - pathetic

To the one with bums on unemployment haaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I must’ve missed the memo about getting unemployment for willingly resigning.

Ha. Assuming the worst in people. You must be my old boss.

As someone who quit a month ago I dread going back into the work force. I have talked about it to others but it seems only people within the proverbial walls of UHG/Optum understand it. This place is grossly toxic. I truly believe this place has given me PTSD. On job interviews the only thing I truly care about is how the company treats its employees. Money will run out and I will have to return to work but for now I’m trying to unfu*k myself from the corporate Stockholm syndrome this place induced and reminding myself that not all supervisors will actively try to see me fail.

It’s amazing this place has any employees left with the way they treat them.

Getting out was the best decision I ever made.

I would love to file workers compensation complaint for the bullying which has given me anxiety. I'm going to start seeing a psychologist so I have a paper trail. I'm also going to print out all the nasty emails my boss sent me as evidence. This is place is so toxic!

Embrace the positive in your life and the good fortune you have no longer being employed at UHG. Move forward and not backwards. There are many more that had the same experience as you and some worse. You’re not alone here. Forget UHG and focus on positivity.

I have serious PTSD over a year after my layoff and six months into my new job. Super paranoid, looking for any hint of disfunction. Second guessing everything. Even though I tried to go in with a clean slate and good attitude. However...I do think I am finally relaxing and settling in. I am working on the attitude that it's just a job and I should never let it take over my life like my Optum job did. Good luck!
