Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

They are onto something

I've seen so many newcomers stay here for six months, a year max before moving on to bigger and better things and all I can say is, good for them. Using Verizon as a stepping stone for something better is how everybody should be treating this place, old and new. For once, I think we should be learning from them.

Verizon gets you a job. Having a job makes you more eligible to other companies to hire you. Stay too long and in most jobs it will ki-l your career because there must be something wrong if you stayed so long.

For some people that is a great approach. For others, we did that earlier our careers and chose Verizon as the place to hang our hat. Why? For some it has had the best mix of everything we were looking for within the geographical area where we were looking. Some of us moved 3 or 4 times while our kids were in Elementary school and decided to plant some roots. I'm sure there are those who don't mind uprooting every 2 years. Pros and cons to every choice. You do what is best for you, understanding that it may not be best for someone else.
