Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Leaders defined by spouse behavior

It has been interesting interacting with the spouses of many our leaders. Of course, the great majority are women who don’t work. They are at least as driven as their husband with most taking up major charity roles in the community. It is normal and typical for them to follow a hierarchy according to the PSG of their husband. Leaders who have spouses who don’t play these games well do not get ahead quite as fast. Once you are at the MD level and above the ladies are fierce, without exception, and can rule over a luncheon, co-----l party, or visit to an orphanage. They dress impeccably, sport expensive hairdos, and are experts in managing staff. Many have whipped and pushed their husbands up the Corp ladder. I can’t think of any leaders who are single.

How many of anyone working overseas or working anywhere are on their second or third wives and how is that relevant to anything?

How many of the management committee leaders are onto their second or third wives picked up from, say, their time in overseas assignments?

That is just because hard driving people generally select spouses who are the same. It is great if you have a hard driving spouse who also has a nice well paying job. Having a spouse who is hard driving but does not turn it into direct money is a drag on the marriage. Most people would not want this.

I knew at least two female MDs with house husbands. Both washed out prematurely.

After meeting Richard, the spouse of an alpha female Chevron manager, a colleague quickly observed that she had a di-k just like we suspected all along.
