Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Anyone else working Long Hours with No Work/Life Balance ?

I was talking with a few friends in different groups, and they said they are understaffed as well and have been working 60+ hours a weeks. No compensation for the extra hours, and in some cases, people have to flip-flop their schedules at night now due to some new changes. The management teams seem to ask this without regards to their personal lives. Anyone else experiencing this due to the attrition on teams?

Good luck getting anything out of the automation team. All they ever do for me is giving 'status' updates where nothing has changed. If you don't do everything for them, nothing will happen.

I regularly work 60-80 hours a week and still cannot complete the ever increasing work demand. Managements’ response is …”then you should automate…”

Not worth it. I was underpaid when I worked for OFD. About 10-15% lower than what I'm making now with better bennies and a non-dysfunctional workplace.

I was doing the work of two ex-employees and getting more and more responsibilities dumped on my plate. Not compensated for nights and weekends.

I refused to work more than 40 a week if I wasn't going to be compensated for my efforts. Not worth ruining health and family life.

The only thing the CI/CD team can accomplish is to pick a different super hero every two weeks. I can't get anything out of that team.

Oh stop whining about your agile cloud and do some actual work

Well, we would have to move to the cloud if we wanted to implement a full CI/CD with Agile. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Working long hours while the bosses tell us how Agile will fix everything.

Yet they dont know how Agile works. But wont stop interfering.

Morale at Fiserv is violently plummeting to 0 at record rates, while the stock price continues to implode. I'll be shocked if this company is still around even a year from now. Meanwhile, Mr. HR continues to spam us with daily "Don't forget to advertise Clover for us!" reminders while stress levels reach new highs due to indiscriminate layoffs.

On our team we are all working long hours with significant extra responsibilities having been added. Look, I dont mind needing to work in excess of 40 hours a week but to do this every week, 12 hours a day is out of line. I would look for a new job but there is no time or energy left to do so.

Nope.

My teams should not be able to function but we have been making it work because the remaining team members are so experienced about how things are supposed to work. We have one person covering a role for six different teams. (Instead of six people). And we have zero people covering a role for the six teams. A completely missing role. The other positions are also severely understaffed and everyone is on multiple teams. I have a feeling you know exactly what I am talking about.

But when I hit 40 hours I am done for the week. I recommend you do that as well.

If Frank and Jeff decided that we do not need to be properly staffed, then who I am to argue? If we do not have enough staff to ensure quality, then I guess poor quality will be delivered. If we do not have enough people to get a project done during the allotted time, then I guess the project will not get done. You should not be questioning the great leaders that we have. Maybe they want the company to perform poorly on purpose and you are interfering with that.

If stuff doesn't get done on time then you will eventually not have a job. But, and this is the important part, your manager will also not have a job. Time to see how hard your manager will fight for new employees when it is their job on the line.
