Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Fear of a new beginning

I got a pretty solid offer for a new job and of course I accepted it right away. The level of anxiety certainly doesn’t exceed the desire to get out of here, but honestly, I’m very scared of a fresh start.
My job will be almost the same, but I believe that I will have to upgrade my skills a lot, because I think I have stagnated a lot here. I would love to hear the experiences of others, how much effort did they have to put in at first when they finally left Verizon for other companies?

$85,000 a day? So less than $1 per an employee meh. I’ll never make that much and if he takes $0s and spread it out it isn’t going to do anything so 🤷‍♂️
If he someone doesn’t sink the company and I get to woke long enough to find better or retire 🍻

Salary Hans Vestberg · Annual: $22,200,000.00 · Monthly: $1,850,000.00 · Weekly: $426,923.08 · Daily: $85,384.62.

so I guess everyone is cool with $85,000 a day........keep fighting with union hourly employees. As for management keep reading the positive motivation books & keep that positivity up you WILL NEVER MAKE IT TO HIS LEVEL at least not here..... get mad for the right reasons

The last two posters both make sense. Union leadership are parasitic leaches, but the union structure itself (or something like it) is necessary if you want to keep companies from having their way with the workforce at will.

Unions are needed to keep management in check.

Once upon a time, unions were beneficial in opposing bad practices by employers. Those days are long gone. They were made irrelevant by their own success. In fact, they were so effective that they had to get laws enacted requiring union membership to keep from losing members. In addition, they exaggerate the truth, and manufacture a mythological history that cultivated fear and hatred in order to keep members beholden to them.
The unions have found out that between union dues bribes and kickbacks, running a union is quite lucrative. They are afraid of losing the power and profits.
In the absence of real threats from the boogeymen and monsters they whipped up, the union busies itself with protecting unproductive and incompetent members...
This only scratches the surface... I could write a series of books on the history of unions, and how they have evolved into a highly tuned parasite that profits by hindering the progress and prosperity of business while entraping and enslaving it's membership.

The bottom line... I loath organizations that have little to no real purpose using fear and propaganda to control people and profit from them. In addition, I have very little respect for people who allow themselves to be controlled through fear and ignorance.
