Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

How much better is the competition?

I have been loyal to this company for a long time and it would feel odd for me to go work for a competing company now. Still, I try to do a little research and do some review of how much better competing companies are in terms of pay, benefits, general atmosphere etc. I come to the conclusion that there are very few competing companies in which I would be worse off working than here.

Everyone on this thread please don’t take a job at Honeywell. I currently work there and we are bleeding people that are just done with corporates sh1t. I am browsing other companies on this site to get a feel for what is happening in the industry. :) only reason I even saw the OP. Best of luck to all!

I began working for ITT back in May of 2004. In recent years my business unit was spun off into excellus and then acquired by Harris and then merged with l3 to become l3 Harris technologies. And the last few years since that has happened the leadership has been replaced by a bunch of feckless mo--ns. I have never in my life seen leadership so unqualified to perform a job. Hardly a week goes by before they are rolling out another ridiculous process. Each new process has been a roadblock to our success. The only hope this company has is that the new leadership under Chris Kubasik removes them. Morale is the worst any of us has ever seen. New employees leave the company before they have been trained. The legacy employees that possess all of the skills needed to run this business are leaving also. I doubt if the void can be filled. For the future I see this company being broken into pieces and sold off. Perhaps the only saving grace would be that the company is acquired by somebody who knows what the he-l they're doing. Fortunately retirement for me is only a couple of short years away. If I'm lucky I'll be able to ride the wave until it hits the beach. That is my plan. For the younger people that have just joined the company, don't put down roots and don't make long-term plans. Dust off your resume and get the he-l out as quickly as you can.

I also left in 2019. After dealing with this lousy company for 8 years and going nowhere. I make far more money and have far better benefits and have an actual team and company that values their employees. It shows in the benefits and culture they create in the workplace. literally the best thing I did was leave and should have left many years earlier. BTW I worked in Planning and Control and it $ucked. I had the worst boss and supervisor who only treated you like cr-p unless you were their friend or kissed A$$. promotions? forget about it. hard work doesn't pay off L3H.

I know many engineers there who also want to leave that place. They have busted their as$ and have given up many weekends and nights to get the their programs to be successful only to have a manager not give a cr-p or give thanks for the hard work.

I left L3 in 2019 for the competition and never looked back. I love my new company and my new job, got a huge raise for doing similar work and the culture is so much better and the people are overall higher performers and more competent. More time off and better benefits, there’s literally been no downside since I came on board. Do yourself a favor and leave, Harris is made up of nothing but the 2nd class defense employees left over when they can’t work anywhere else in the industry. I never realized it until I left but it’s true.

Hiring standards are at an all-time low. I wondered why someone in my department was so thrilled to be hired, and then she told us all that she used to work at the Writing-On-The-Wall-Mart.

I just decided to offer my resignation. If I wanted to work in retail or fast food, I'd get a lobotomy.

All defense contractors act and perform the same way: unskilled bloated leadership who are hired, promoted and then protected by the sheer worthlessness and failures of Human Resource personnel to do their job which spreads dissent like cancer throughout the organization. Human Resources inflicts far more invisible damage across an organization by hiring/promoting mo--ns through executing defective hiring practices yet rather than acknowledging and acting to correct the problem they hired into the workforce, HR instead hides behind company-created policies to justify and rationalize the unprepared, unmerited, entitled "problem person" they welcomed then promoted to wreak their unrelenting havoc across all areas of an organization. Never forget what the Cornfield Mafia did to Greenville, C3ISR, Aeromet and of course the rear teet-suckers in Waco. These corporate parasites are everywhere the only difference is in the depth, magnitude and angle of the anti-confrontational (usually millenial) HR personnel heads are up their leadership arses. Due to brown-nosing's seemingly old school approach, HR has stepped up its game as it is now common-place to find HR personnel both head and shoulders deep inside their managements ar-e.
