Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Is the storm coming?

Or someone is raising a false alarm? I hear a lot of rumors about big layoffs coming.

the news would be for CSCO not having a layoff. it's become a secret ritual. it's all HR does. they go around applying the McKinsey matrix.
OF COURSE there is going to be a layoff. it's one of the major success pitches Chuck & The Gang pitch to Wall Street... cost efficiencies blabla. every year. otherwise they don't have much to sell as vision these days.
Cisco's sacred ritualization or layoffs is a disgrace and will ki-l the company... it may already have done so.

I worked at Nortel (Northern Telecom) for ten years and at Cisco for ten years. I see the parallels to Nortel's collapse in Cisco. Yearly/6 months regular layoffs, more people jumping ship, executive teams that make bank based in past success while the company is circling the drain, and finally, the company will be broken up into parts and sold off. Cisco got a jump on everyone else in the networking space. A huge jump, and was extremely successful. But with bad executive leadership, led by their "woke" agenda, Cisco will end up as Nortel did.

I am impressed that the girlfriend did not see his name in a list of 3400. Mad skills!

I can confirm this. My girl friend's dad is a senior VP in a Cisco. She saw a big xls spreadsheet on his PC for the pple who will be chopped. My name was not on it. It is about 3,400 pple. That's for his org only.

I think the actual question is whether they will go back to a quick chop around earnings time or if they do a 1-2 month song and dance like last year to make it seem like they care?

"The way Cisco is bleeding talent right now thru folks leaving if they have to do another LR there is a MAJOR issue."

That's what people said in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019

The retirement was only offered in 5 countries, and a lot of people took it because it was structured to read that if you didn’t, you get get fired on a smaller package later.

"Age based layoff"? They retired of their own accord so engage the gray matter if there is any. There are plenty that didn't take it and are still around and high performers. I do think it's stupid that people have bought into the doctored numbers when all they are doing is making those numbers via the cost cutting. That being said the backlog of orders is quite large with customers wanting to be next in line when the chip dilemma clears up.

If Chuck wears a $500 golf shirt from a country club West of the Mississippi on a Cisco Beat, there will be a big layoff. East of the Mississippi... slightly smaller than a big layoff.

Believe the science.

There’s always a layoff coming at Cisco. Every year. It doesn’t require a prophet to predict that.

2500 "early retirement" aka age based layoff last fall followed by 7500+ normal layoff after. Would not be surprised at all if more are coming. Cisco does not care about it's employees as they use layoffs as the fastest way to cost savings. Total BS.
