Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Taking breaks?

I am saddened to see some colleagues who take almost no breaks at all.
Is there anyone else who is so torturing themselves by pushing physical and mental limits and overstretching working hours?
When I ask them why they do that, they say that they would not be able to finish all the work otherwise.
It's too sad what this company is doing. The pace of work is awful, but people have to take breaks!

Why would you be taking 3 breaks? It's 2 !!! 2 hours after you start , then lunch before your 5th hour, then your 2nd break 2 hours later. That's the way it works in my club.

If you had managers actually working in their areas they would see what's going on. Office's and computers were eliminated so the managers would be more hands on.
Please take all your breaks. Take care of yourself. You deserve your breaks for all the hard work you are doing for them.

Where I use to work I never took breaks and lunch was on the fly. So I hardly ever take breaks but I'm force to take lunch. Rather work a straight 8 and leave and the end of my shift.

I am main baker and it is rare I get my breaks or even get to leave on time for that matter. The workload and expectations is sickening and terrible!

When I became the lead baker I never took my second break because some of the wrappers were so slow and the manager would come in and ask were the bake was & why wasn't it out. Before the store even opened there were so many holes that sometimes I didn't get my first break. I only had one good wrapper she also baked on my days off so she knew how it worked, the other one was in the restroom every 15 mins.

I am in the bakery. I rarely get a break, being the baker there is too much to do by yourself. The workload is aweful!

The people who don’t take all their breaks like me, are making up for the people that take 30 minute breaks 3 times a day. Nothing feels better than going to the break room to see people already well into their breaks; leaving at the end of your 15 minutes, while they stay seated; then seeing them back on the floor 5-10 minutes later.

If you don't get your work done, you get wrote up for not managing your time. You think you won't get fired for not managing your time? You're wrong. I've seen it done.

Plain and simple, I don't want to lose my job. And there is no way to prove you have too much work to do, How do you prove that? How would you prove to a court, a mediator, anyone for that matter, that you have to much work to do?

I skip breaks quite often; however, I take them when I feel I need them. I would go insane if I sat in the break room doing nothing three times a day. I honestly don't know how people do it.

If I'm doing the work of three people, that means two people are out of work, and I don't want to be one of them. I know this statement is flawed, but I've never been out of work.

I rarely take both of my 15 minute breaks.

It is only your own fault if you don't take them.

I've heard of people, mainly fresh, not taking them for that reason. I'd love to report it but don't want to see THEM get in trouble when it should really be their manager's responsibility and fault. But we know that wouldn't happen.
