Nike: Layoffs and lack of data to support true diversity, equity and inclusion

"Nike is trying to block a resolution seeking release of the company’s EEO-1 data, which is a federally required accounting of workforce and leadership demographics, plus more information about hiring, retention and promotion."

Nike spends more time and money on trying to spin the truth instead of simply telling the truth, learn from it, and do it better in the future.

I have known 2 black tech workers that left because Portland/Beaverton area just didn't have any middle class black people in it.

@2nnk

But all those banners with black athletes around WHQ???

Seriously though, Portland isn't on most black people's list of places they want to live and Nike is seen a "white" company. I'm sure there are may POC who interview and pass on the offer after seeing who they'd be working with/for.

Funny how all Of Nikes top athletes are black yet black people aren’t represented in WHQ

Of course they dont want it out because everyone will see it for what it is. They fold in stats from retail which is where all the diversity it is (and low paying hourly) to cover up the fact that corporate and leadership roles are largely white, male, and higher paying. Woke washing to make $.

Simone Biles saw through it which is partly why she left

@1mzd, you are right; it is not likely! It is a fact.

We really do work for the most unethical organization on the planet! I hope Nike just tanks and dissolves

As someone who hired people E band and below, I was instructed to prioritize interviews, employment offers, and contractor gigs worth millions to minorities based on skin color over merit and competency. For minorities there is also a rank of which minority should be prioritized over another minority. However for S band and above, the same is not applied, it is rather incestuous and they take care of their own (mostly white) for the most part with a slight drizzle of diversity here and there

Yup! Internal hiring or promotions are completely flawed, unethical, and bias. I have recently discovered that one's experience, expertise, personality, and, of course, giving magnificent interviews accounts for nothing. While I do not have hard data, it seems to me that almost every position posted internally is just to satisfy a "check the box" process as the hiring managers have already selected a person they personally know, a friend of a friend, etc. Tired of hearing how "lucky Nike is to have me as an employee and how impressed every person with whom I have interviewed was, but we selected another person for the position." Tired of hearing how wonderful it would be "to work together in the future."
