Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Expat In Covid

Anyone else getting the shaft on benefits because they aren’t converting expat positions into back-to-back? Many Residential positions are no longer allowing families to return because of Covid. As a result, people are stuck in expat jobs without their families. They have to take vacation to see their families, and somehow management aren’t considering making those positions rotational! This is nuts. I know so many people thinking about quitting because doing this for what could end up as 2 years is not cool. A divorce costs more than that extra hazard pay.

You are complaining about your plush expat job? LMAO. Get real! You have reaped all the benefits and now should not be complaining

I’ve heard what’s happening in SASBU but how is NMA faring? When do those families come back? What are the benefits that are given to people still stuck in ugly rotations?

For management, they can work from wherver they want, but the rest of us have to work as single-status, unaccompanied, and ONLY in the country we are required to be in. The head of International Products has been working from a beach in Hawaii instead of Singapore. I’m sire HR is bending over backwards to make workarounds for him. Meanwhile, the rest of us have barely seen our families for the past 16 months.

Sadly, it’s probably going to get worse before it gets better. I think they won’t let families return until everyone in the family is vaccinated and of course the vaccine isn’t approved yet for kids under 12 so it will probably be a while. I doubt they restart the school in person in August if all the kids can’t yet return. There’s a PDC coming up soon, maybe it’s time to get out and end expat life.

Rotation is no longer allowed except for drilling and ops where people live in the field.

Chevron did not leave UK. The upstream reduced significantly, but there is more than just upstream in UK.

The Indonesians and Thai all had to leave Chevron, but not the Brits! Chevron left UK but the Brits did not leave Chevron!

What’s so special about them?

What’s the deal with all the British expats? Chevron no longer has any UK operations, so why are these guys around?

Your best option is to request repatriation try to be with your family. Chevron will normally honor this. You do not want your family living in a third world Country these days. Save yourself!

Poor expats. You can't move back because the British expats in the USA who get more benefits living in the USA than Americans get living in third world country's have positions you would fill. Time for a US company to prioritize Americans first.
