CVX - One of the Worst Companies To Work For In America

Remember when we were all ask to vote for CVX to one of the best places to work? I think we have crashed to the bottom of the dumpster. My son is an Electrical Engineer at A&M and A&M has advised that based on feedback from O&G alumni, O&G is not the place to focus for a future career especially if you are a white male. The guidance office has advised that CVX is not looking to hire white males right now based on their request for resumes. Disappointing. I am a white male in FE and I do see how our focus has changed. I am proud to work for CVX and feel lucky to have make it through the reorg. I just feel bad for the future of this company.

If you appear white, just start identifying yourself as (fill in the blank). This should help because in today’s woke world, you can be (anyone or anything or any one of the how many genders they have developed ) you want.

I have worked at another major and also know and talk to people working at others regularly. CVX is by far not the worse of them by comparison, in fact it's closer to the best. But I agree with most of your post.

I had this thought. A group of retired oilfield guys can go to every school that big oil tries to recruit at and offer a question and answer session to tell kiss about the realities of big oil.

This should not surprise anyone. With the new woke political class in power, corporations have been given their marching orders to increase diversity. This means white males will increasingly become persona non grata, since by definition they are not diverse. Not only at Chevron, but increasingly everywhere. I have personally seen many qualified white males passed over, laid off, etc. in the name of diversity. Nothing new here, except that you are waking up to the reality of corporate politics. Plan accordingly.

I agree with both post. There are most certainly companies that are not as good as Chevron. I think the intent of the original post was to point out how far Chevron has fallen over the last 10 years based on the company favoring/focusing on people based on their s-x and race over their skills.

You’ve obviously never worked at any other companies during your career. CVX isn’t perfect (especially right now), but I worked a couple other places before coming here 13 years ago and believe me, there is worse out there.
