Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Hard work doesn't pay here

I can't be the only one who has noticed that the harder you work here, the less you are protected. Those of us who give it our all are constantly pushed under the bus by our managers and I'm getting really tired of it. What's the point in working hard if it's only going to be used against you?

All this tells me is they just need a body to fill a position and it doesn't matter who it is as long as there is something you like about them and they can reasonably do the job. So why not choose the person with the accent or the personality you like or the thing you have in common. When it all comes down the bosses need someone they want to deal with. So be that person and not just some ordinary drone.

I knew a guy who became a 2nd level manager because the uppers in the control center loved his Queens English accent.

Working hard will threaten people. Corporate America has turned into 1970s Soviet Union. Slack off and hide... you'll be fine

Try to learn new skills and work hard... goodbye

It pays if you are union. They discourage hard work and encourage whining in that cult.
