So true for Facebook, Google, Amazon. Their day will come.
The "new thing" will always squash the old things.
AOL and MySpace were once thought to be unstoppable.
And please stop typing, I can already hear your heavy breathing.
Definitely not prestigious anymore after the email debacle!!!
Very nice IBM!
Why is so hard to believe? Nothing lasts. Everyone has their day, and then it's gone. IBM's came and went.
In general terms IBM is not good for your CV until you worked on something that was cutting edge. If you have many years service in IBM (5+) it is even worse.
Working for IBM was like working for Kodak, Xerox, RIM - all fantastic places to work in their prime, until they disintegrated due to management completely missing where the rest of the world was heading.
After a year of looking for a new position and having IBM on my resume as a current employer, I can confidently say IBM is no longer viewed as a prestigious company and hasn't been for decades.
Actually, since IBM siloed off from other industry-standard world-leading companies, it now hurts to have IBM on your resume. Thank you Ginni for 8 years of destroying this once great company.
Yeah in the 80s but less and less after that.
It wasn't the same place back then.
How the mighty have fallen.
