Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Don't come into work sick

I'm not talking about the coronavirus, I'm talking in general. I hear people brag so many times how they never took a sick day in their entire career, instead, they sucked it up and did their job and I just can't wrap my head around that kind of thinking. You are not supposed to suck it up. That's what sick days are for, so you can get better properly and (if it's something contagious) not give it to everybody around you. Do you honestly think that you never taking a sick day did anything positive for your employment? Other than maybe an attaboy from your manager?

Sick days are really mostly additional days off. Everybody takes advantage of them, if you are not you are an id--t!

IBM has unlimited sick days.
Only in America does this happen…. Don’t take sick days, so you can work more to pay health insurance to help pay your bill from being unhealthy.
The America needs to learn from Europeans and take more vacation and time off for living.

Be sure to call in sick on the day of a big layoff.

Please don't waste your sick days unless you are deathly ill.

Sick days are for when you suddenly have to avoid work without planning for it - for example manager wants to meet to see work you haven't actually done, or you get an unexpected "yes" from that person you've been harassing, or the weather is just too nice to go to work.

Bueller?

OP how does this relate to layoffs? If you’re out of a job you don’t have to worry about those nasty colleagues any more! Best of luck to you on that.
