Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

We need more younger employees

There are still too many older employees who are set in their ways and refuse to change with the times. This is slowing down our progress - we need to be able to exchange ideas and innovate properly if we're to survive this competitive market. Older employees need to retire so we can all move forward.

Who does the last developer to retire share cake with?

I was in management at Fiserv, not upper management. There were a few groups where 100% of the developers of a product were in their late 60's. I don't think there was a focus on eliminating them, but getting younger employees in so when they retired the business could still function. This probably never happened though because those requests probably never got approved. I would also tend to say younger people are more likely to do something that would cause an outage too. There is no real point to those post just topics to think about.

To the person that referenced "millennials", their current age range is about 25-40. Most no longer qualify for that "young" status.

This was obviously posted by a troll (who I am sure doesn’t even work here), to try and get a reaction for their own sick thrills. Funny how so many if you take the bait by adding more falsehoods, naive for anyone to believe any of this has any truth!

Anyone consider that this was posted by our assigned HR partner to divert attention away from a pending layoff or another poor decision by leadership? Perhaps they're going to start selling off parts of the business? Perhaps FB is going to hire more executives to add to his ranks? Perhaps its just to cover the poor stock performance leading up to earnings? No one actually believes we need to lose older employees EXCEPT HR, because the older employees know what the company WAS and will fight to get their benefits back.

The language rules are collapsing on this thread - when facts fail, call someone names and when that fails, use curse words.

We need more younger workers because of our aging population. People with decades of experience are retiring and wet behind the ear employees will take decades to learn what retired employees know.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1995 prohibits discrimination based on the following items: impairment, marital status, political belief or activity, race, religion, s-x, social status as a person, age, role in business dealings, lawful se-ual activity, physical features, pregnancy, position or past employment position, and association with a person who is identified by reference to any of the foregoing thirteen grounds. Also prohibited is se-ual harassment, which applies to both employers and employees.

This is against the law mo--n. Older workers exist and they have EXPERIENCE. They are not slow and not set in their ways. But since you think this a fine idea, please tell us your cut-off age? I have always enjoyed job posts for a young Python Developer with 22 years experience. LOL. And mainframe? They are still in use so get rid of them too. All upper management over ??? should be fired too as they are, obviously, a drag on earnings too.
