Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Do they care?

Is there a proper exit interview at HON for people who quit? Not just a checklist to make sure you gave back your laptop and whatever else, but a proper interview where they ask about the reasons for leaving? A lot of companies find that exit interviews provide invaluable information, but I'm not sure HON would even bother.

My manager went through the checklist and collected my stuffs, when I left. HR in HON is only responsible for coming up with sh---y messaging and twisting data to come up with good stories. I pity them.

They don't care why you leave as long as you do leave. Some managers do them, but I've seen the "don't let the door hit you on the way out" approach more often.

I gave up on being part of a rif recently and retired. I gave 1 month notice.
I asked the facilities group to bring a rolling dumpster to my door and cleaned out my office. 40+ years of junk. Project notebooks, awards, service plaques. Two file cabinets and a desk full straight into the trash.
My debrief with the facility security officer consisted of a stack of papers slid across his desk and "sign this cover sheet".
No communication with HR.
Gave my laptop and badge to a co-worker designated by my director level boss.
He said "you should be able to find your way out".
I wandered around the building for an hour or so saying some goodbyes.
Should have done this years ago.

As a senior I didn't want and didn't have an exit interview. They were glad I was leaving and I was thrilled to go. I had already been taking my personal belongings out in the days prior so I had only a small satchel to transport my remaining stuff. Not an emotional experience. I already had a gig lined up so no economic hardship either. Adios motherfuckers was my feeling.

The problem is the same at many levels, lack of actual exposure and training. Just retired last week (MASSIVE SMILE !!!) and I found the whole process very inconsistent and received conflicting answers from the same sources when following up during the process. Had issues with Fidelity and Honeyhell but figured it all out in the end. The same was true on my last day. The process was one that my boss had not been through and he got conflicting info from other bosses and personnel. Bottom line, I'm OUT and already got my first pension check. Keeping busy doing what I want to do and when I want to do it without any urgency.

I’ve seen the smile on my colleague’s faces on their last day over the past 2 years, they’ll miss the people not the company, looking forward to giving notice myself

"Do they care?"

Of course they don't care. There is no exit interview either. That 30 minute to one hour exit interview is an unnecessary expense. That's valuable time HR could be using to layoff more people. You will be given 15-30 minutes to leave, possibly be escorted out by security.

Nothing for me. Actually, handled the silly checklist remotely via Teams, I left laptop in his office, threw badge to security guard on way out. Not even a call from second level manager, other similar function managers, HR, nothing, no one cared. What's odd, management asks employees to suggest friends for hire, treatment like this, lack of respect for employee who gave 40yrs to the company, I would never suggest Honeywell as an option for anyone in USA. I will however strongly discourage to any who ask.

Once upon a time, they did. When I left they scheduled one, then cancelled it; my immediate manager handled the paperwork.

They scheduled an interview for me and I gave the same non answers I did when they were trying to have me train my replacement.
They don’t need to know why you are leaving. They certainly don’t need to know about your new employer. You must do the interview or it may impact a future return.
Be polite. Be quick. Do not give more than ten business days notice. Best to give notice immediately before holidays to minimize useless knowledge transfer activities.
