Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layoff rumors or relevant info please

When are we gonna get some info related to layoffs, VTP, anything concerning layoff news rather than all this garbage that nobody really cares about? Even a good rumor would be better than all this cr-p!

I believe by mid to late September, HR will know the number of people leaving on their own due to the loss of retirement health care. By then T will determine if more are needed to reduce the work force. Mind you, this applies only to management. Occupational is a completely different situation and may not be impacted at all.

Layoffs!! Layoffs?? From where I’m standing they can’t hire enough people. There are signing bonuses for prem tech jobs. Also hiring off the street for construction splicing jobs.

All is quiet for now. Perhaps shortly before or after year end we get another opportunity to leave with a package

Yeah I heard T will be offering a VTP September 15th with a 2 + 2 kicker along with a free company pickup no longer needed as well as free hunting land in remote areas no longer needed for cables. But then I woke up and am still lol@myself

Layoffs aren't really part of AT&T shrinking strategy. Selling the employees to another company like IBM, Tech Mahindra, etc. is the new plan. Rebadging saves the company a lot of cash on severance and union negotiation.

If you don't like the topics or responses just don't come to this site, simple as that!

There is no active layoff rumor at the moment.

But, T lays off on a regular and often widespread basis, so never allow yourself to get comfortable. Just because there hasn't been any mass layoff announcement in the last few months doesn't mean anything about the next few months.

Just carry on as if layoffs are imminent, because at T they ALWAYS are.

The "no news is good news" is very relevant here. If there are other topics it is because people are not being surplussed like crazy. Enjoy the other topics while they last........

I volunteered to get laid off back in January but was told because of all the people projected to retire plus all the people who are quitting after the “too many mouths to feed” and “your overpaid” comments they may actually need to hire. Of course they are not hiring US badged employees. My team already has 4 new replacements, all in Bangalore. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for that...finally something worth reading that is relevant to why we visit this site in the first place!

They will delay a decision until they have the number of ‘older’ people resigning due to the change to the care packages. Then they will target surplus some groups and start panicking on the groups where they are losing people they need. Wait until October and November for huge reorganisations and VPs leaving on huge packages whilst average senior joe who has put in all the years is having to walk for nothing.
