Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I finally understand

When I joined Development Company at Greenspoint we would have big all company meetings at the hotel next to the office. I remember thinking the old guys were so jaded and cynical. Comments like don’t trust a word management says. I thought wow these guys are jaded. Now I finally understand.

I am 59. Until the last month, I've been very happy. I've been fortunate to have jobs and opportunities that challenged me and I've always been ranked well. I hate the new assessment system. I also hate the 8-10% NSI requirement. This obviously drives so much unneeded stress and demoralizes the entire organization.

TMTS and HW3 are HUGE omens that jobs in the US will be transitory, at best. Professionals here, if you are not HIPO or on the fast track to being a senior technical SME, should be worried, as well. Just go to www.ExxonMobil.com and take a look at the "careers" section -- hardly any of those jobs are in the US or Canada.

I'm hoping to be around 1 more year before I retire. I wish everyone the best. Take care of yourselves, your families, and your career destiny.

Have “courage of conviction” so we know who to fire.

The moment an incompetent sls told me I was mediocre without being able to articulate what a hi-po accomplished was the day I became a corporate leach.

Get the easiest job in the corp. Use your free time for family and personal development.

If management and the executives are robbing us blind, get in on the action.

Since I started 8 years ago I've been on the hunt for any 30yr+ guys who are genuinely happy, not just tied down with golden handcuffs. I have seen a couple, but mostly because they just didn't give a f anymore. Jaded and cynical are par for the course. And even more proof that money doesn't buy happiness.

OP. Thank you. Good point. It is time to fire you since the old Development Company didn’t do jack. spend spend spend is all you guys did without any process or technology innovation.
