While oil prices are rising now we all know the way this goes. Prices will crash again. Do we have time to pay down debt before then? Are we strong enough to survive the next bust?

If you have that fear, leave now while the industry is recovering and you can find a job.
If we do bust, it will be in an industry or economic downtown and you probably won’t land another job.
The smarta$$ reply of course is “Exxon will, you won’t”.
The reality is different. This time EM has taken some absolutely desperate measures, things it never did before in downturns. The only companies that did these things are those on a terminal path, like Amoco (bought by BP) or the old Mobil.
As another post said, EM has transitioned from a career oriented company to a company oriented towards having the cheapest employees possible. Just mix unmotivated, poorly prepared employees with the classical EM inept management, all in a cash-strapped, indebted organization and see how much it lasts. There’s a good reason DW tries to grab as many millions for himself as long as he can.

Ups and down cycles happen in this business. Yes, XOM will survive and thrive once again, without you or me. We quit, they will find someone to fill our spot quickly. It’s the business and it’ll keep going.
Oil is not dead since the world needs energy to grow, and oil is the best form of energy we currently have readily available, demand will continue its cycle.
EM will not and should not survive the next bust given its corrupt culture and mentally corrupt employees
OP - you're responding to your own posts now? Also, it obvious your the main poster on this XOM thread for the past 3 days. We ALL know you dont like the Permian....just leave now or stop posting the same obvious themes. Its getting old.
