Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I can't do the job of 3 people

Hemorrhaging people and management still says we don't have an attrition problem. Please stop this PIP nonsense - it antagonizes the workforce. Maybe give out a raise or two. Something to try to build back morale.

Recognize that if you're the one doing the work of three, you're setup for failure.

I was moved to a new role. This role was normally done by 4 people. They assigned these 4 people the work of another 4 people who were let go. These 4 people managed to do the jobs. Then they let 2 people go. So now 2 people are doing the job that used to be done by 8.

Was I excellent? Nope. Come to me with NSI and PIP? I held the place together. I did the only think possible. I walked away.

If you're the one holding it all together, you're dispensable. Management will tell you others did more all while you're too busy to do more.

I’d resign first thing Monday morning if I was this tired and overworked!

@OP I’m in the same situation. I realized early on that even if I did the work of three people that my job would not be any more secure, so I didn’t bother trying.

Do the bare minimum and use your remaining time at EM to up-skill and land a better job elsewhere. Burning yourself out for them does nothing for you.

Why are you working so hard? Just learn how to suck a big wet di-k. It's not too hard

If you can do the job of 3 people, then you should be piped. Somebody has to do the work so I can collect my retirement payments. Come on, work harder.

@1efi+1bJSTVvS silly statement to assume that everyone is doing the job of 3 people. The manager of those 3 people who were let go potentially just moved the work to OP & their work load never changed; My manager was doing the job of an Excel macro, btw. Now I make double his salary.

These are all signs of Exxon becoming a shell Company. Senior Leaders only need the stock to stay high or artificially inflated it for a few years while they cash-out and make it to retirement. Those of us who have to work for a bit more are the ones left hurting. Same thing happened to Sears & other Companies.

Sorry to be brutally honest but this is the norm from now on. Either suck it up or quit.

If you’ve been doing it for 21 years what makes you think it is the job of two people?

I do the job of three people and do it well! I know how to set priorities and not waste time on BS! If you don’t like the job and the direction the company is going then you need to leave. Plain and simple. I’ve been working at least two jobs for 21 years. Suck it up buttercup or do us all a favor and quit so we can get someone that can contribute

If you do the job of 3 people and so does everyone else at work, that is the job of one person. You're just used to an easy job where you waste your time.
