It has become almost impossible to have a life outside of work because my schedule changes non stop. It is a major source of stress and a potential trigger for depression.
The only way out is to quit, but unfortunately, I can’t find any better job here where I live. I expect at least a little respect, that the schedule doesn’t change last minute, but I seem to be asking a lot.

You have to take control of your life, DAMN IT!
Work the job... don't let the job work you!
Look up your states labor law on schedule changes. Report them.
Because people want their days off and sometimes may even make plans on those days...does NOT make them lazy. Some of us even have families we care about and want to spend time with. The problem with Sams/Walmart are the a**es that tell others to "suck it up". How immature and disgusting!
you want a real " potential trigger for depression"? quit and try pay your bills on nothing. suck it up, stop whining, & get your lazy @$$ to work.
This is the way at Sam's and Walmart. Why do you think they hire just any body!? Some people that work at these places these days, just know that anyone will be hired. The long term associates are treated like cr** after all the years of hard work building the business. The business has zero standards anymore....probably for the past 8 to 10 years....and definitely the case since most team leads are making the calls. Very sad!
You can't plain and simple.
