Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Candidate pool

Scraping the bottom. Anyone watch Stankey/Anthony diversity inclusion profile call? . Going full bore on diversity so only 5% of jobs now need a college degree and Stankey added criminal record as a diversity indicator. I'm glad when I leave, I'll be a retiree. Used to be that ATT employees were sought after, highly regarded and commanded ability to move to even better employment as cream of the crop.

Management Jobs suck I would never want one. I’ve worked at T for 24 years and have a Bachelor Degree and have a craft job and am staying put

Go ahead and criticize craft positions all you want! We’re the backbone of this company and T knows it which is why there are zero plans to reduce legacy craft positions. My org just hired another tech! Management, well good luck hanging on to you jobs! They’re being squeezed out the door in every conceivable way T can devise! Oops, sucks to be management!

This company has always been a champion of EEO and fighting discrimination. Seems like Stanky is feeling guilty for his own behavior.

This is hilarious…complaining about only 5% needing a college degree. We know that 97% of the current ‘craft’ labor have no college education. That’s why they stay in those jobs until they’re pushed out. Who’s going to pay them what they make currently with no education? Apple, Google, Microsoft? LOL

Yet here you are.. If you were so skilled, one of those companies would have snatched you up by now. As it is, some guy in Bangladesh with a "degree" will likely be doing your job in the near future. Kindly do the needful. Remember that phrase when you are training your replacement and performing a "knowledge" transfer. If you don't behave, you will lose your severance. Bye.

I’d say 50/50 on the college degree for craft. Only so many l2 and l3 positions out there while most craft make more then l1’s with or without a little OT. Better pension, medical, and job security.

In case you’ve forgotten, those ‘loser, incompetent, stupid, c-suite, MBA, bean counter’ leaders that you daily rant about here all day, every day are, and have always been, ole white men. You know, the ones responsible for slicing your pension, reducing vacation, benefits, while increasing layoffs. Those who you have so much venom for….they’re you…except you’ll never make as much as they pay their gardeners. The irony of it all…

I'm 100% convinced the world has gone completely insane. What I watched today confirmed it.

If I get a DUI for riding my tractor mower across the county road to mow my other pasture, I'll lose my job.. Phuck you Stankey, and those around you.

What ever happened to hiring the most qualified candidate for the job? Oh..and can not WAIT for the lawsuits when our customers get robbed, or worse, and it comes out that the company knew about the record when they were hired.

Seems a little racist of Stankey to just assume that minorities would be the ones with criminal records.

What would be the benefit to the company of hiring someone with a criminal record? I just don’t get this at all and the company will reconsider this stance.

What a disgrace Stankey and Santone! Forget about finding and placing the best qualified candidate for the job. It used to matter if you were proficient in math and science and could qualify on the TKT, obviously not anymore. I guess it doesn't really matter, T will be lucky to last another five years.

I am all for a diverse workforce and inclusion. I don’t understand why is necessary to start considering candidates with criminal histories. Yes, everyone makes mistakes, but that doesn’t mean that we have to hire people who criminal backgrounds. Surely there are plenty of candidates (women, people of color, etc.) that don’t have criminal histories, and you would think a company like AT&T would be selective in its hiring. Very disappointing and doesn’t make sense at all.

An applicant with a criminal history used to be grounds for instant elimination. I guess Stankey and Santone now consider this a pre-qualifier for hiring, advancent, and promotion.

Showing percentages on diversity and promotions are basically worthless. 100% increase is the same for 1 to 2 and 100,000 to 200,000. This is statistics 101, to show the actual population. Stank thinks he is really clever with the selective transparency, it is all BS.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing! 90% of management promotions in the last year were for people of color. Their strategy to get it done? Stop requiring a college degree and stop checking criminal history. This sounded like a bad SNL skit!

  • Stink once again proves just how revolutionary, visionary, and virile he is.

And to think this imbecile is a CEO. He isn't qualified to push a mop at a truckstop bathroom.

Of course criminal record shouldn't be looked at for hiring decisions. Otherwise he'd have to fire himself for all the borderline criminal decisions he's made at this company. In his own words "everyone makes mistakes" and he's made more than his share.

Why watch the Stinky/Blondie show? If their lips are moving they are lying. If their lips are not moving, then they are thinking of their next lie. Or do you enjoy watching Stinky drool?

Here is what I do. Sign up for their BS session(s). Tune in, turn off the sound, minimize and go take a nap and charge my time! Eagerly waiting the recorded replay so I can repeat this as many times as possible to charge my time to!

Every organization has development and promotion plans, what a joke. SVPs and HR are working around the clock on moving people out of company, pretty sure they are way too busy on spend time on development. When asked if technical competency measures are being used to evaluate promotions, HR had no idea. Sounds like the plans are working just fine.
