Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Will the bleeding stop?

This week I’ve heard from 5 people that they are resigning. None have taken a job that is higher pay. Many have taken substantial pay cut (30+%) All I have spoken have said it’s because of current assessment system and culture. They were nice and sugar coated to HR that they are moving closer to family. Partly true.
I think HR will hide this mass attrition under the guise of saying folks are moving closer to family.
Reality behind the mass attrition is that we have created an atmosphere of fear and failure. Our leadership has no Vision to inspire the masses and they are failing miserably.
I am not even in EMIT, I am in UOG and see this happening. I can only imagine how much worse it can be in EMIT, UIS and UBD

Is there a way out? Where is a leader when we desperately need one

Left for culture reasons and got 50% raise. So not everyone is taking a hit on salary bud.

Yes - we need a bl00dy leader!
I have one in mind - who I see in the mirror.
It's just me and him.
But everybody has their own opinion.

Are you saying the Upstream Culture initiative, their team of cheerleaders, and the exVP now champion have failed???
The beatings will stop when morale improves.
I bet the geniuses at the top have determined how much pain, lack of productivity, and work loss they can endure, while presiding over their kingdoms on their empty chairs.
How else one person can be President of two companies, if only just in paper - or perhaps with the purpose to Make said companies as small as noticeable.
The only work left is that which can’t be outsourced; reserved for the anointed and their buddies. They will milk the dead cow as long as they can; just see who’s promoted to STC, chief, top manager spots.
None of them cares that work sucks, that insecurity, stress, burnout are eating healthy what’s left of the soul of this place.
And now we have to pretend teams that are hiring are awesome places and that our greenwashing is all we need to fair the energy transition.

I do not think there is a way to stop it now, even if they wanted to.

It is such a sad story. Imagine if Management focused on employee happiness.

Imagine the volume of work a 50 year old workaholic can accomplish if they weren’t constantly attacked by their Hipo babysitter (read: problem generator)

Let the engineers engineer and the operators operate and the headcount fixes itself when all the actual problems get fixed.

This company has been hiding attrition realities as “closer to family” decisions for years. The only difference is that more people “want to be closer to family” now than ever, apparently

You're about to start hearing how ExxonMobil is the best place to work in industry. Just wait.

The bleeding will not stop until our OPEX is 30% less than 2019 baseline. Raises and promotions and outsourcing of work to lower cost countries will continue until we reach parity with other global energy companies.

The elevator story for morale uplift was pathetic. "Don't quit" ... "OK!" ... The End

Culture of this organization is so pathetic that nobody will ever think of rejoining. Attrition in EM india is also at its peak now, more than 30% has left the organization.

This Exxodus is what management wants. We have too many high cost employees in upstream given planned asset sales and very little new projects from UBD. The plan is to shift most work to low cost countries. And some of those leaving may have been pushed. The plan is to get head count down so every one who leaves is one less to PIP next year. Be happy those leaving found jobs and a future.

Seems the made up BS elevator story didn’t serve its purpose to inspire.

CSR, RTD, EMIT - all abused, left with no vision, and are being bled dry. At the same time, though usually highly skilled and educated, are typically berated by the very people they try to support. Just check these boards. This toxic culture is why the company is going under.
