Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I wish attrition was as bad as some are making it out to be

Yes, people are leaving but the numbers are not nearly as bad as some are saying they are. I wish they were because that would mean we were losing enough people to make layoffs if not unnecessary, then at least significantly smaller. That's not been happening though. More people than you think are either too afraid to leave or still enjoy their work here.

Some functions are losing more than others, and Charlotte is "concerned" about a number of recent talent departures. It won't change a thing. Hiring is about to be frozen again in some areas. Good luck to those left behind.

That's because half are still working from home. When they force everyone back, you'll see a lot more

All in the 10k... $800M in "productivity and other actions".
That is all we are.. dollar signs.. ( not Ruppees. .. dollars)
This company doesn't even know your name.

I have been at honeywell more than 25 yrs.
OTher than my first boss in the pre merger days... I have NEVER had a birthday or service anniversary mentioned by a manager.
Not in the rare one-on-one or the regular staff meeting on some slide.
Once it showed up in a site newsletter in a big list.. but only once.
My bosses included two men who are now very well known VPs.

Honestly I am not looking to leave. Why bother? I would rather retire in place.
Not sure my manager realizes I am still here. Haven't had a one on one since the mandated career meeting ... which was about finding me a revcog charge number...

And they wonder why employees are apathetic?

Don’t worry they have figured out a better way to reduce labor cost without doing a RIF, announce another furlough. The smart ones leave but there’s enough too scared to jump out. Yeah another furlough is coming. Record profits by stealing your paycheck, good luck

The 10K reports tell the story better than the perspective of individuals.
Labor is moving offshore. The number show it.

Between 2011 and 2020 the US workforce for Honeywell shrank by 23% from 53000 to 41000. Legacy locations would say it is actually more as this includes the creation of the new Puerto Rico sites which employed at least 900 in 2018 and has since seen the transition of the Aero Mil Avionics product lines out of Albuquerque.

As a percentage of overall Honeywell employee census the breakdown has remained steady. This is mostly due to the large number of non-US workers who where spun off into Resideo and Garret Motion in 2017/2018. That action dropped Honeywell census by 17,000 overall while only lowering US workforce count by 2,000. 2017 was the only year in the last decade where the US employment census increased for Honeywell.

I challenge the reader to go look at the financial difference between Aerospace Commercial Avionics and Aerospace Defense. Very interesting if your world is viewed from the Deer Valley lens of commercial avionics like me. These numbers SCREAM leave or get on a defense project.

Honeywell doesn't care about attrition. Industry average is 15% or higher according to stupid consultants like mckensie.

This is public data. Every employee should study these reports.

@1lhy+1bRS6aY0 -- hiring spurts scream recent layoffs but future layoffs are always in play. Yeah, replace all the experienced people recently RIF'd with new grads.

Yeah it’s almost like they need to scramble to fill positions after RIFing half of aero.

Well, since this aerospace site is hiring more and more, by the day, and faster than people are leaving, clearly some of you are oblivious. Hiring spurts don't exactly scream layoffs.

When everything circles around to worrying about layoffs or the impact of layoffs... you work for a $H|T company! Have a good career!

Don't forget the impact of site consolidation. DV has absorbed multiple locations. Clearwater has absorbed. Hmm. Moris plains work, Golden Valley, Co-n Rapids, Sarasota.. Olathe the same. Many sites have rebadged hundreds to Celestia etc...

Now look in the parking lot.
Did that extra work fill spaces?
Yeah...that's what I see too.

OP, the attrition numbers may be high at the sites the people posting here work at. You only see what's happening at your site.

Obviously, you haven't been to a site. It's a ghost town during the middle of the week. At DV, 55%+ were layed off layoff last year. Then people started retiring in droves. And now the place is bleeding talent. While there a few that still enjoy what they do, the vast majority of the remaining people are either waiting for retirement in the next couple of years or are making their exit plans. People are leaving faster than they are coming in. Darius' plan to go all software and outsource to third world destinations is in full swing and working very well.

It is always layoff season for older employees.
That's how this company rolls.
Take heed and do what you know you need to do.
