24/7??? No sleep in the last year??? We all have tough jobs. Go take another nap since you are WFH and playing with the dog/kids. Essential Work is for REAL workers who work on rigs and in plants. A job where you must show up everyday and SWEAT. And THINK or Die
Then leave. I did, what an amazing decision. Haven’t looked back besides this sad forum…
It's not normal. So I left for a new gig. I have worked through TAs and other crunch scenarios where the extra hours felt invigorating because I was aligned on a technical mission. This year however was different somehow. Working but no traction. Trust in our systems, colleagues and leaders is down. So your energy just dissipates as any work needing integrated support somehow fizzles out. I think it's not just the workload but the morale problem seeping into all activities... but I don't have a psych phd nor HR experience... so maybe I just am too d-mb to follow what they are doing at the top.
Remember the Psychology 101 class that you took in college. When there are more mice in the cage than food, the mice become very aggressive and start hurting one another.
As @lja+1bSQkLGg stated, you are in a culture where you should trust no one. It is best to document everything including your verbal comments in meetings even if it is an email to yourself.
You should also realize that there are at least two managers (Department Head and Director) that have access to every email you send.
All of us who work in manufacturing/sites are saying “give me a fu----g break”.
Listen to all around you but trust no one, not even the one who claims to be your best friend. When the time comes they will always sacrifice you and then wont even look back. XOM has converted slaves to Robots now. Emotionless, careless, dignityless, respectless, robots. And mgmt. has the remote for us robots.
All you need is Balance of Nature Fruit and Veggies capsules.
Oh, what wonderful things will happen in your life.
No more stress. Pleasure yourself and your partner before heading to campus!
If you're taking on more workload because the company "disappeared" the previous desk occupants, there's a point beyond which it's impossible for work processes to continue as before. I feel your pain. You have to be the adult guardian of your own health, because that's not on their list.
If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen……
Hard work isn’t for everyone.
Oh please. You probably just suck.
I agree with you. This isn't sustainable....
Look out for yourself because no one else will
Hope things get better for you
This should not be considered normal or accepted.
