Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Why must I be Suzy sunshine for ab administrative assistant role?

I am not outgoing and I don't like social events. I do my job and do it well, but why do they expect admins to have outgoing personalities and also play the mom to everyone?
I have been an admin for a while and this isn't always what it used to be.

Oh the stories I could tell….I was once an admin….I loved it! I had the scoop on everyone.

I work as an administrative assistant and I agree. People expect you to be the social butterfly, the gossiper, the hand holder, everything.
For the most part, you can't get a good morning from your coworkers and managers and they expect you to sit with them at luncheons.

It’s basically for every workplace. I know my manager doesn’t like me very much because I don’t participate anything outside of work or talk about his interests or hobby so I am the only one who didn’t get a gift card while the rest of the talkative ones do. But whatever, this position is my stepping stone anyway

Being a suzy sunshine is part of the Chase culture. The better you can fake it, the better you will make it. With regards to the admin function, instead of being always thinking you have to act a certain way, pose your thought as question.

That is all part of the mentoring, D & I, ALLY etc, etc liberal / socialist agenda that is being pushed upon us. Being an admin at Chase isn't just about administrative duties, it is now about being altruistic and getting involved with everybody, everything at just about every inch of chase. Whenever you take the mandatory Diversity & Inclusion course at Chase, take note of how they want you to get involved with your co-workers and help them with social issues. They couldn't pay me enough to be an admin these days and especially at Chase.
