Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Looking to switch companies

I have a career in field operations and am looking at a few companies to apply to. I read the Glassdoor reviews and happened to come across this site while searching for layoffs and how often they occur. I do have a question if anyone could care to answer. Is it possible to further my career with this company and expand on my skillset? Is there room for growth and employee engagement? If I could have honest answers and anything else you’d like to share I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I got out of that s-ho-e circa 2015. Best thing I ever did. My salary has increased 75% since and all my old coworkers do is sweat about when the next layoff is coming.

I used to work for NOV, 17 years in fact. It was a very good place to work, up until 2015. From then on it was all down hill and the ones running things at the top, would take care of their own and laid off many others. If I were looking for career growth it would not be at NOV

no raises in several years now, across the company. Some worker have made lateral moves, for same pay or minimal pay increase. If you are tight with management, you may move up...

Seriously avoid NOV, they have no respect for any employees and treat them as numbers. Limited development opportunities with many long time experienced people let go to save a little money when needed.
Avoid and choose somewhere else
