Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Good ol Pal and PAC: American Petroleum Institute (API) keeps the lights on.

I recall not long ago, our internal emails would be littered with articles from the API and asking employees to contact their congressmen re: upcoming legislation affecting EM.
Does that still happen? Haven't seen such in a while.

Here is some lowdown on API in general.
Recent article. Not Forbes.

BP / Aramco / Total / Shell / etc. all heavy contributors.
Quite a focus on EM for some reason.
There is much mention of EM employees bouncing in and out of this PAC.
Rex T. for example was Chairman for a while. That dinosaur.

It's a 10-minute read:

What’s the point in contacting Senator Cancun? He’s so deep in the pocket of the lobby and special interest that he doesn’t need our encouragement or guidance.

Need to make sure all those O&G subsidies stick around! And don’t forget to whine about subsidies for wind/solar/etc!

The definition of 'Industry Association' seems innocent enough.
Gotta set some standards and how best to serve that public out there.
But when a specific industry associates solely for the purpose of eliminating competitive alternatives - that is called Monopolistic collusion.

The API is both a PAC and a propaganda machine against alternatives.
Collusion not only against the consumer and public, but against nature itself.
The senator cited says this more subtly.

To avoid any conflict of interest I must confess:
I myself was paid for a lengthy presentation to such an association - much smaller than the API, but influential in its scope. Back in '82.
The title of my slide-show presentation: "Bio-rhythms and Worker Safety".
It was a hit.

Maybe Keith McCoy will be hired by the API as a lobbyist in Washington DC. He has experience networking with Senators.

Why contact when you can buy?

The ones that donated to these lobbyists- suckers plain and simple. The wool was pulled & you were fleeced. Specially if you think they will help you “save” your jobs.

Correlation with layoffs is in there somewhere.
Petroleum Engineering departments at several universities will be closing shop soon.
Where is that article?
