Cutting newbies at Ford

I've only been here less than a year. Despite the job being very stressful, I'd love to keep it as long as possible. I thought Ford didn’t cut people who have only been here a few months, but I recently heard that it’s not at all unusual here. How much truth is there in that? If they want to cut someone, do they get rid of someone who is a slightly worse performer but is longer in the company or someone who is new?

M-Plate Abuse. I Don't believe it exists.

Tell me how old you are with your 1 year of service and I'll tell you how safe you are- that simple.

I recommend that if you have access to a company M-plate test vehicle, that use it, abuse it as much as you can. Take it overnight everyday and weekends. Let your buds take a test drive. Use it for personal business.
Don't worry about signing it out or even signing it out properly. FMS is useless. Just unplug the GPS, no need for that. Remember, it's free gas and free insurance!

Now, why am I saying this in this topic? Here's why: for years I have seen sub par engineers do all I've said above and then some and never ever get disciplined or be at any risk of getting cut. Never. In fact, misusing company vehicle privileges seems to give one a protective shield from getting an involuntary in some Ford departments.
I'm sure the HR people that lurk here on thelayoff will back up what I'm saying. They know.

You won’t get cut unless you are a troublemaker or causing drama. Ford is cutting the people who have been there a long time who have high pay. They can hire 2 or three of you for everyone one of them they cut. Don’t worry. Especially if you are an FCG, you are a “golden child.”

Having seen the reduction theater over the last 20 years first hand, I don't think there is any rhyme or reason how they are done. It's like that Tom Cruise movie Edge of Tomorrow, the aliens run around slashing everything for a long time and then it just stops. It doesn't seem to matter ... key tech area, bloated low tech areas, new-hire, veterans, low performers, High performers. There is a list of the anointed protected ones and then there is everybody else.
