Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

You All Must Watch the 6 min earnings video in Stankey’s email today

It’s so unbelievable. First of all he dresses up like a field tech, and a basketball player, and one outfit he looks like a milkman or postal worker? I skipped through the video with the scroll bar so I didn’t really hear it. Until the end when he said something like, ‘I’ll make you a promise, if you do this well for second half 2021, I will....’ and I really thought he was going to say we’d get a big bonus or start getting raises again. Instead, he said he’ll shave his already bald head. Who the Fr3ak cares about that?!?!? What an a$$. “Thanks for your unprecedented performance this year but I’m not sharing the profits with you!”

2023? Please, not that long! So much more damage can be done in two years.

I remain good friends with an exec who left earlier this year. He said he does not think Stankey will make it past 2023.

I always thought that people shaved their head to get rid of a lice infestation.

No one had the stones to tell the guy, "...um, John...you're BALD..."

It's like Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top promising he'll grow his beard out. Kind of already there.

He should've promised gender reassignment surgery. Fun AND woke at the same time.

Wanna bet the Stinky will take his corporate jet clear across the country to go to his favorite barber to have his head shaved?

“Who were the managers/employees who helped produce, create, edit and approve that video? A review of that total fail is needed.”

This is what happens when Stank’s ego is surrounded by bootlickers, no one will tell him that he is an id--t.

"At least he didn't say he was going to buy another company...shaving his head won't cost a thing"

Don't be so sure of that. Do you think Stank just lets any random person touch his head? That's where all the important things are!

It's more likely he'll fly in some special groomer from LA, put them up for three days in an expensive hotel, set up a studio to film the whole thing, write, rehearse, and shoot it over the course of two days with an expensive "congratulations" (to Stankey of course) dinner followed by a big wrap party.

His little head shaving stunt will cost us $2mil easy.

Keep working hard and get those results and I’ll shave my head! What?? Does he really think that’s a motivator? “Sorry bud, can’t do lunch today, need to work extra hard so Stanley will shave his head!” Now if he would have said he’d paint the letter “L” on his head in permanent ink, I might work harder 🙃

Aside from the sheer stupidity/cringe-factor of the video, particularly bad that he was reading from a teleprompter that was off to the left of the calendar. So there is no "engagement" when you see him looking somewhere past you rather than at you.

Does he think this makes him a man of the people? He has destroying billions of dollars of value and thousands of employee lives.

To be topical since he seems so impressed with HBO, "You know nothing, John Stankey"

Being retired from T, I couldn't see the video and didn't believe at first that an onionhead would promise to shave his head as some sort of motivational tool. Alas upon further review it appears it must be true. So underwhelming.

The video says a lot about a guy who claims he knows TV better than anyone. The lame overlays and effects are a total bore, someone should submit it to the Razzies, the corporate cringe category.

For those who are hoping for an increase in bonus or merit pay, don't hold your breathe. They will change the tune real fast where it comes to paying employees. The HR expert will reiterate paying less is competitive in the industry (aka, alternate universe when lizard people rules).

To go from calling us all just "mouths to feed" to doing a cosplay video saying he'll humiliate himself if we meet his goals this year...this is a sad, sad man.

In five years we're all going to be reading a rehabilitation story in the WSJ about how this experience "humbled" him and he "learned so much" and it's going to be the grossest thing you'll ever read.

@say+1bXhfAIE, unfortunately, some people are simply unlikable regardless of how hard they try to show they are human.

Stink is a perfect example. Another is Jeff Bezos. And still another is Sen. Rafael Cruz. No matter what any of these guys try, no matter how much they pay a PR firm, not matter how 'regular folks' they try and dress/speak/act it won't work. No matter how much makeup, costume, coaching they have, their natural awfulness will always come through.

He must have got some executive coaching feedback that he needs to show more of his personality and human side. Frankly, it was Romper Room level material that was insulting to my intelligence. What's worse is so many people liked seeing it judging from the internal comments.

A bald dude promising to shave his head as a motivation stunt to increase productivity is about as ridiculous and demotivational as an alcoholic promising to down five shots of whisky in one minute.

You can almost hear the conversation he had when trying to think up what gimmick to peddle.

Lickspittle: How about you get doused with cold water?
Stink: No way, my clothes are too high end.
Lickspittle: Okay, what if you offer to wear a dress for a day?
Stink: Uh-uh. I'm the manliest alpha male that ever alpha maled.
Lickspittle. Yes you are sir! What if we give extra bonuses and/or raises?
Stink: Are you out of your mind? That's MY money!
Lickspittle: ...
Stink: I know ... I'll offer to shave my head!
Lickspittle: Brilliant idea, sir

One can almost see this as a bit on the Simpsons between Mr. Burns and Smithers.

And therein lies the core of why Stink is easily the worst CEO on earth.

I don't think that was scripted, or he totally ignored the script and ad-libbed it. Just another demonstration that the Stinky is not CEO material. Not polished in any way. I don't think he is even janitor material. Not sure he is even human!

Like most I thought he would say we get 100%+ bonus if 2Q beats or matches 1Q. He's either wanted to shave his head for sometime and needed a reason when people ask or he thinks no chance of making 2Q. Either way, no one cares. He came across as a phony

Yikes. That is the cringiest thing I've seen in a while.

"Regular Guy" John Stanky is one of the spookiest things I've seen. I expected them to unzip his flesh suit at the end to reveal some kind of lizard man.

The video is a strange, mildly nauseating of silly and creepy. But what's really sickening are the comments. These have to have been written by people who would put anything in their mouths for a dollar or a pat on the head and wouldn't feel a bit of guilt or shame about it.

My children are in elementary school. Their principal agreed to shave his head if the elementary school met or exceeded their attendance goal. This sounds erily familiar. No one would notice if Stankey shaved his head, no change in appearance.

I think Stink needs to find a new PR firm, because the one he's using isn't really doing a good job.

I mean, this video has Stink coming off as a patronizing, insincere, cosplaying doosh. Kind of like that arrogant, annoying tourist who goes to a different country, buys a silly hat that is allegedly traditional for the culture, then wears it and insults all the locals with his boorish, entitled, ignorant behavior.

What a repulsive human.

A person of substance wouldn't rely unless gimmicks.

So much for managing the cost out of the business, bet the company is paying a handsome price to the marketing genius for the idea and the unfortunate crew of video editors who wouldn't want to put this piece of cr-p on their resume.

Seems clear to me that Stinky is mentally ill. A rich mentally ill POS. He is a megalomaniac to start. But that is not his only mental issue. The drooling is a sign of taking anti-pychotics.

We all know why Ratty was appoint CEO - he is Whiticare's son-in-law. But why did the BoD appoint Stinky? Stinky must have something on the BOD, and maybe Ratty to have been appointed. Stinky must know where all the bodies are buried!
