Does this mean anything receiving assessment results at end of week? Do they save PIPs for this time, or is it truly random and up to supervisor to schedule meetings?

To those going through this I’m sorry. Just know there are amazing jobs out there! I was pip’d, passed and then layed off. Rely on your network and use LinkedIn
@2cen+1bYULlFQ Funny, that is exactly what happened to me. Manager scheduled only my review and not the rest of the group and then went on two weeks of vacation. I should note that I was old enough that the PIPing had to be done in early July; the first days he was back from vacation. Fortunately for me, I took it all as a sign that I was being PIPed so wasn't surprised when it happened.
Scheduling feedback is at the discretion of the supervisor.
Last year, the review meetings were scheduled with the Manager for everyone who got PIP'd. The rest had their review meetings with the Supervisor.
Mine was Friday afternoon just before I left for the weekend and I got PIPed. I knew something was up when the meeting was scheduled so late on a Friday and we both had our calendar free for most of the week. I knew for sure I was not being brought in to be told how highly I ranked.
My supervisor scheduled my feedback session (NSI) last year, on a Monday morning in July. So don't read too much into getting a meeting invitation for a Friday. Be more concerned if your supervisor schedules your meeting (but none of their other direct reports) and immediately goes on vacation for 2 weeks. That's what my a-ho-e supervisor did.
Had mine this past Friday. No PIP.
The deadline is end of August, not July this year!
Just got pipped today.
Got myself a pocketful of change.
Had mine yesterday. No pip
@yfr+1bYULlFQ OP here. Friend of mine has their review next Friday. Very good point on timing… they’re likely safe based on time to decide and 11/1 deadline.
Think of it this way :
Employees sieves for PIL off book by end of quarter. (Nov 1)
21 days to decide +90 days = 111 days before Nov 1st as deadline for employees with certain criteria. 10 days for others. So, 100 days.
Deadline 7/13 for certain employees.
7/24 for others.
So yes, if you have feedback today, it's probably PIP because the manager was putting off telling you.
No pattern. Each supervisor does it differently.
FLS here, we have been told to randomize communication with those in PIPs and those that are not. Sh-t show started. I am going to communicate the message and jumping the ship next week.
Friday afternoon is a sure sign that you are NSI. It gives you the weekend to gather your emotions and calm down.
Guys,
Reading this is a heartbreak. Management by fear is absolutely counterproductive. And using a twisted performance assessment process to dismiss alleged “poor performers” at low cost is unethical. The dollars saved this way are nothing compared to the damage caused by the loss of trust of the employees in their employer.
Fortunately in Europe labour laws provide some protection against this.
Good luck everybody. Chin up!
Will this year follow last year’s pattern? Older (40yo+) employees notified sooner than other employees?
There is no pattern. There is some sort of deadline for communicating to the people involved. Likely by the end of July. This aligns with PIPs completing my Nov 1. You should be informed during your PADP session. I would not assume anything just based on when your feedback is scheduled.
I'd think most first-lines communicating NSI would prefer beginning of the week.
There's paperwork and timing for sending legal docs, etc. involved.
Also - why risk spoiling your own weekend?
Can’t say OP. I have mine mid week. Good luck and no matter what happens stay focused on your goals and plans. God Bless.
