Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Vacation during COVID

Covid-19- one of the worst pandemics in modern history. Mask up, avoid crowds, don’t travel

Management- Make sure and take your vacation as we want you rested and healthy

Classic Xom management mentality. What they are not saying is Xom does not want to pay out unused vacation pay for those who will be separated from the company thus the change in carry over day policy.

Yes, Mr. Bootl!cker, it’s one of those “tough decisions” that absolutely fails to move the needle at the corporation level; it just makes the life of the employees more miserable and allows some corporate drone to supercharge his career.

What? The change in the policy was due to pure accounting. The vacation payout liabilities was large enough to reflect on the books and that wasn’t going to fly. That’s reality. And part of the reality is that people weren’t managing the ratable use of their vacation. COVID? That’s a poor excuse for you NOT wanting to take your vacation.

I personally don’t think it’s a great policy reversal but I can also understand why tough choices had to be made given we were bleeding cash and had to make the books look better

I don’t take vacation till the end of the year anyway because you can’t trust these a-s clowns to pop you any day you go into work. It’s sad but save your vacation till Roy because you may need it if they pop you when you least expect it.

Yea it was so disingenuous when they told us. Everyone I know takes 0 vacation until PADP is communicated to ensure that buffer is there for them financially. It's just being smart.
