Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Want WFH to be permanent? Call the union!

Call your locals, district 1, and the National! Let them know you want this to be permanent! They will listen to you at the very least. Be prepared for the quick responses, “work from home requires(insert random response they think will turn you off)”. Be polite, don’t harass them. They’ve achieved a lot for us over the years, don’t forget that. BUT remind them, getting this done will be a huge achievement. Look forward to getting it done!!

Didn't have to get a union. They made my position WFH without needing to ask.

@7joj+1baomWHq No you aren’t! There aren’t any reps who want to go back. Nice try management slug! Union is working hard to keep work from home!

I’m a rep and want to get back in the office. Not having any social interaction is not healthy. I’m sure we will be getting back soon.

The System Council T6 passed a proposal yesterday to Verizon for a permanent Work-at-Home agreement. The existing temporary agreement runs through the end of June. This new proposal offers comprehensive language that would address the needs of a long-term agreement. The IBEW in New England is committed to trying to reach an agreement to continue Work-at-Home, and awaits the company’s response to the proposal.

I hope you guys had a relaxing weekend! It's the start of a brand new week, and time to renew your efforts to let the union know your wishes. Everyone needs to make sure they contact the union in at least one way to let them know the advantages of working from home. Let them know that it benefits Verizon and you. Despite what they will tell you, it benefits the union as YOU ARE the union. The union exists by you and for you. What is good for you is good for the union. So, call, e-mail, snail mail... Any way is perfect. Whatever keeps you at home.

Don't worry. After 2023 WFH will be permanent. Except it won't be work from home it will be welfare from home as in collecting it.

@1kjv+1baomWHq No, you’re full of it! Managers do want to stay at home….because work from home is better. It benefits them just as much as it does the union membership. So keep trolling and pretending to be a manager and we’ll keep fighting for work from home. Don’t listen to trolls pretending to be managers or union people! Fight the good fight! CWA for life!!

@1kjv+1baomWHq We notice drop in call volume pumpkin....it’s happening now, it happens when we’re in the office too.....doesn’t matter, still job security as the vendors f it all up....it comes to us to fix.....

I'm one manager that wants you at home. If you're home, there's less chance you'll see what we're doing. With local RMG and management centralized, you won't have allies in the field. You'll be so busy with your whiney kids, laundry, soap operas... You won't notice the slow drops in volume as calls are sent offshore. If you do, you'll welcome it. It frees up time for the kids and laundry. Pretty soon we can justify letting more and more of you go.
Please, call your union. Flood their phones. Increase the pressure on them. Take to the streets and turn public opinion against them. Buy ads in newspapers. Get a spot on the local news. Do whatever it takes. Let's get this ship moving!

Can they guarantee everyone e has the vaccine?

Can they guarantee that people will wash their hands?

Can they guarantee that no one will catch Covid?

Can they guarantee that I’ll be safe?

No to all of this! The so called Indian variant is tearing apart the UK and they’re vaccinated at a better rate than us. If we go back to an office, it should be another year from now. I don’t want to be around people who didn’t take this seriously in the beginning and I’m sure they aren’t taking it seriously now.

I also want to get back to the office. I put on 20 pounds working from home because my home office is too close to the refrigerator.

The people posting about wanting to return to the office are the same managers who get upset about “lazy” union workers. They’re trying to divide us by pretending the union wants to go back without listening to it’s membership. We all know how they normally post on here. Lazy bucket worker this, fat call center worker that. Don’t listen to it. The union knows we want to start working from home, so they’ll work to get us to stay home!!

CWA and IBEW won’t have us go back to an office. I’m still in the boat that the union is going to do the right thing. Work from home is good for the company, the union, and most importantly the members!

lol, at the sheesh comment. The members don’t want to go back to an office. Watch out for the skills on here, trying to pretend people actually want to go back. Just call, make your voice heard, and we’ll get this done. CWA/IBEW will make this right if you voice your opinion.
