Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Hard truth

IBM has lost its way for quite sometime now. They had some of the best people at one point and now almost all of them are gone. They feed you the lowest wages out of any tech company. The executives have mismanaged every step within the company. IBM has been and will always be one of the worst tech companies until all the executives are purged and a new foundation is laid down. IBM is dust and so is your career with them.

@sma+1b7qlmuX said it perfectly.

for a software company there seems to be a high level amount of managers - I have no numbers but I reckon 50% has manager exec or VP or whatever in there title.

Execs, only stickers in org charts , by now. Empty layers and layers of chain of command , like the membrane that separates a chrysalis from being a butterfly in the real world. Full stop. GLT the last layer.

Correct, I don't understand why IBM is keeping this exec.

My manager doesn't know a thing how a system works or How long requirements would take? I am telling 3 weeks for small UI change and my manager doesn't even know. Same goes with our backend team. They just keep pushing issues from one quarter to another. I just feel wtf is happening here. Manager is busy doing certifications and badges, attending useless meeting.

I think IBM should have to temp hire Fang tech managers to evaluate our manager skills and If they do not meet 60% benchmark then lay off them. Pretty sure, only 10-20% would be competent.
