Sometimes I can’t believe this is the same company I loved working for. Still, at least I worked here for many years and used to be very satisfied. Today, if I were in the place of young and talented people who are just starting to build a career, I would never apply to Cisco. I know a great young man who came last year and whom I would like to advise to go as fast as possible from here. It is not clear to me how Cisco can attract such people anymore.

I applied for a contract position, rejected for in favor for a FT regular employee position. Went through 6 weeks of interviews and meeting my future teammates. Then, I was told it was on hold because of a LR. Then contacted about an offer, then contacted again it had to be a contractor position. I accepted simply because it was a paycheck. Then the Friday before I was suppose to start, I received a bonified offer at another company which was much better. The manager was so mad because I turned it down so late. I told her if I was a regular full time employee, they wouldn't have been in the situation.
This proved I made the right decision. I knew going in if I was hired, it was constant layoffs. I would have been looking for my next permanent job on Day 1 if I was there anyway.
Because there are tons of Indians in Cisco. It is just like home!!
As a partner who has worked closely with cisco for many years, i am seeing it become less and less relevant. It's a shame because a lot of us had invested much time in honing our Cisco knowledge.
They do not judge you based on merit or your accomplishments. To you newbies, get out while you are still young. Trust me.
Years ago, after years of college, I told myself that I was going to work at Cisco. Well, I am driven and determined. So I studied my ar-e off learning everything about Cisco (so I thought) and so in a short time I achieved my goal.
I remember my first few months. I overheard a fellow cube dweller saying that he would have to kick himself if he stayed. I thought it strange then.
"It's like Cisco is overtly trying to indoctrinate new hires and convince them that everyone and everything is racist. And BTW, what's with all these "diversity" directors you have here? I met someone who described themselves as a "diversity" Java developer! Is this a joke?"
BCG handles Cisco corporate strategy. The trendy framework in management consulting is to divide & distract employees. This is working well for Cisco due to our lack of cloud/software product offerings.
The cheap free coffee in the janky kitchens.
I interned last summer and working one on one with my mentor, I thought it was great.
Then, reality set in once I got here. "They" (ELT, VP, Directors?) are only concerned with vile woke politics that have nothing to do with the business. I've never seen "cancel culture" so up front and pervasive. Say something wrong and you're toast.

What happened to focusing on the business and judging people based on merit?
I'm not sure how much more of this garbage I can take. Yea, I'm looking.
I was actually brainwashed due to being at a target school. When I was in college I knew something was wrong, but didn't think too much about when my friends and people that I knew were rejecting intern to full-time conversion offers. Come think about the smart ones rejected those offers and went to Pendo, Google, Amazon, one of the Big 4 Consulting firms, SAS, and the dummies went to Cisco.
College hire here. I applied due to the Forbes Best Companies to Work For Award. Unfortunately, I quickly learned that industry awards are bought.
Haha. Do they actually hire? I assume most new employees come via acquisition.
