Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Best of IBM

Is the "Best of IBM" program what Golden Circle used to be, or something different? And does 100% club still exist? There was a time when 100% club was tiered, and you had to over-achieve to gain any benefit from it - 100% you got a pin and nothing else, when you used to get a trip.

2 golden circles here, US and UK great trips, guest allowed only if you were married. Multiple 100% clubs but it's comparison of florida trip vs luxury in Hawaii. Nice recognition but also earned you a double or triple increase in your quota while cut in territory....sad but true!

I got Golden Circle and five 100% clubs when I was at IBM. Two of the five resulted in trips, then they cut back.
I quit when I realized (took me too long tbh) I was selling for a company that didn't value my ability. I now enjoy competing against and regularly beating IBM.
I take full advantage of knowing how IBM operates and I've won business right under their nose that they weren't even aware of!

So when I was at IBM, Golden Circle was the top award and you could take someone with you.
100% club was just you and some peers, and IBM would send you somewhere for 3 nights. Then they changed it so that you had to over achieve to go somewhere - just getting 100% didn’t mean you got a trip, nor a raise for that matter.

It always struck me as one of those programs that was more about the execs having a nice trip at the company's expense. The "honorees" are really only there to provide cover.

3 years ago one rep on our team received a hand signed letter via Fedex from Ginni congratulating him on 9 consecutive years of 100% Club and her personal challenge to achieve 10 years. That afternoon our manager RAd him. No joke

Like so much of what happens within IBM, the best of IBM is based partly on performance and achievements and partly on politics. It is supposed to be the creme de la creme of IBM and there is a big event at a different exotic place every year for the honorees, and some cash bonus. All of the execs attend of course.

At least it used to be all that maybe 5 years ago .. no idea what it is like today.

Of course it does not protect you from layoffs - I know two who went from Best to PIP within 3 years, and were gone shortly after that.
