Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Are Intel employees overpaid?

A big chunk of the company expense goes to employee compensation.

Given Intel provides so much perks and other benefits etc should they be more cautious about keeping the cost down?

Also overpayment can lead to lazy and unmotivated employees.

What do guys think?

“As long as the product is successful”

How’s that part going? LOL

Intel is getting its a-s kicked by AMD, Apple, Nvidia and TSMC. QCOM is up and coming to eat Intel’s lunch as well.

You ask me what do I think, OP?

I think your trolling isn't very clever. Try again.

As a former Intel SW engineer laid off last year, I can tell you that you are vastly underpaid. I am making almost 150% of what I made at Intel at my new job. When I first was hired at Intel we had actual perks, free tickets to movies and shows, substantial discounts on all kinds of things, basically all access to the Nike/Adidas stores. Now it's waiting in roller-coaster-length lines for cold sh---y food and fu----g Coors Lights at the 50th anniversary.

Life outside of Intel is much better, don't settle and undervalue yourself. Intel is a decent starting point that looks good on a resume, nothing more.

I don’t think we are overpaid, but I think perks should be limited to things known to improve wellbeing (eg gym/health insurance/bonding leave/etc.) and career development resources. I don’t think we need events with free food and gizmos.

sure, management and engineering leadership are grossly overpaid. PowerPoint jockeys and snake oil peddlers getting paid big bucks and Intel will even hire your wife as a perk!

How do you define overpaid?
Btw, don't you know the majority of the expenses goes to Marketing, Capital spending then only Compensation
As long as the product is successful, MFG cost would generate enough revenue to fund Marketing, Capex and C&B. Which employee is paid a fraction of what exec received.
So, I think you could be bottom of the pyramid in the corporate ladder because you have the thought that Intel employees are overpaid
