Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Another McElfresh/Santone meeting

The next one is for Thursday and is advertised as the "Culture Survey results are in" meeting. With them going back to surveymonkey for questions, they no longer are allowing us to see others questions or being pressured into answering the highest voted up ones. But send in your questions anyway at the non AT&T site:

https://att.surveymonkey.com/r/June17-McElfresh-Santone-ConnectLive

then get out your bllsht bingo cards and see if they:

  • pretend nobody is asking benefits questions anymore
  • treat it like Legg and say "I've addressed that topic already"
  • blame it on lack of communication
  • tell us like Mair that we're one of you and get over it already
  • conjure up Stinky and tell us your earned over time benefits are just debt
  • tell us we should be happy we are getting caregiver days in place of lost retiree healthcare
  • blame the lack of raises on the new bonus plan while ignoring that it was a replacement for the old bonus plan and hardly anyone is getting it anyway
  • tell us we should be happy with the smaller salary bands because that way it lets us win as one
  • pretend it's too hard to maintain different benefits for different groups of people

Nothing like a culture survey meeting to show how little culture they have.

We need to keep the loss of vacation days conversation going in the survey comments. As we saw from the telecast they are sick of hearing about it, but if we keep pushing it maybe they will do the right thing and either, grandfather the folks who had the vacation days or give us a choice of, do you want caregiver leave or keep your 5 vacation days. And please don’t tell me the net loss was only two days because EVERY at&t employee received the three holidays not just tenured employees. We lost five days! Keep the fight going, maybe we need to have our own version of the Blue Flu!

When effective communicators say "time to move forward", they provide a clear vision and substantive steps required to achieve the vision. Substantives steps can be huge sacrifices, but at lease they are direct and serves as rallying cry to earn solidarity from the troops. Santone's body language and message are what you expect to see in a middle school election pitch. Lots of nodding head, hand movement and repeat messaging which had no substance, taking up dead air while McFresh grins behind his specs.

Santone was just a bobblehead on that town hall

Also how they said how people told them it's dismissive to just brush off people losing a week a vacation? And what was their response "We don't want to make it seem like we don't care" and then went into trying to justify paid caregiver days were a suitable replacement. Again a better benefit for younger people who still have kids to take to the doctor. Useless to me.

Bingo on "get over it"!

Wonder what my boss will tell me? Get over also? I got f*cked over also?

Lower management has even less heart. They are too afraid of being put on the layoff list for standing up for their people so they do nothing on things like this.

Interesting that they believe the reason they didn’t have many people taking the survey is because they were actually “working”. Insulting. Basically saying those of us who did respond don’t have enough work to do? I did it after hours. I’ll remember that for next time. No response = Too busy.

You could tell that they are getting tired of rehashing their arguments over and over again concerning the benefits & pay reductions. Especially when they said, "The decision was made. It's done. Time to move forward." Also when they begged managers to "Please find a way to help your teams move beyond this one small change in benefits."

These two, Santone and McElfresh, spend a lot of time fixing issues created by Stankey and his poor leadership an management. Stankey only knows how to dismantle organizations and businesses. He can tear up the most successful business in a few months then he moves on to new targets for destruction

Don't forget the other excuse they are also using:

  • other companies don't give that benefit anymore so we're taking it away at the last minute from the people who came here because they cared about benefits
  • It only affects a minority so it must not be an important thing

Hey, @mjv+1blQmffF , out of curiosity, give me three concrete examples of something (anything!) the executives are doing to make things better?

And no, selling off TW and DTV at less than 50% of what T paid is not doing something to make things better. That is a desperation move forced by the massive debt because of Randy/Stink incompetence.

I'm actually quite interested in your reply.

Spent who knows how much $ and productivity conducting a survey that will not bring results down below the 5th level...how can anyone think this will result in any real change. Keeping the pool so large means no one is held accountable.

We'll have our own meeting here. Rehash same old complaints again.

they would be better off just not having the town hall. WALL OF SHAME label has been appropriately placed on this garbage c suite

I am looking forward to seeing aggregated responses on the "I trust executive leadership" type questions...it's fun watching them squirm when it dawns on them that no one listening to them believes what they say or trusts them.

Just remember when their lipps are moving they are lying. When will they learn that these meetings are a waste of company resources. Time would be better spent delighting our customers.

This group of leaders are nothing short of an embarrassment. When the leadership seas get a little rough, they run and hide.
