StinkO seems to think current internet speed and deployment is great. Unfortunately those in rural areas are using wireless microwave or dialup still and he stated that 10meg was just fine.
If telcos don't want municipal competition then they need to build out fiber everywhere. T doesn't have a problem taking billions of tax dollars but they have a problem spending that money to buildout.

The main reason you don't want to compete with the government is not because they can run a business much better or quicker.
It's because no matter they can't go out of business no matter how bad they botch it. They simply steal more money from the citizens, (excuse me, make the rich pay their fair share), and keep right on going.
We’re you plugged into the gateway with Ethernet or did you test via Wi-Fi? The one product T has that i never had a problem with was consumer fiber. Naturally it wasn’t gig speed via Wi-Fi (Until you get all Wi-Fi 6 hardware) but when I plugged directly into the gateway i got 900+ up/down, which is pretty darn good and close enough to gig that one couldn’t complain. Unlike that fool Stankey says, consumers want high speed not a paltry 10meg.
If the government needs to pay ("subsidize") T to build out high speed Internet, they should keep the money and do it themselves. Give it to the incompetent thieves running T and at least half will be skimmed off and the finished product will be a shoddy unreliable mess that customers will be overcharged for. It used to be said that the private sector was so much more competent and efficient than government when it came to doing anything. You don't have to work for T very long to find out what bu-----t that is.
I tested my 1G service this morning at 6:45 a.m. I got 472 Mb/s DS and 265 Mb/s upstream on my FTTH connection. What's up with that?

Network organizations are in disarray, IT is ineffective and outdated, customer (dis)service is useless, marketing has no creativity and sales is based on lying to customers. Stankey has taken us from a slow disintegration to warp speed downward spiral. He wasted billions on companies he played a part in buying and is now unloading them until he leaves with a Golden Parachute.
Xmz has no idea what he/she is talking about. T takes taxpayer money and misappropriates it by not providing proper service that they promised they would. Having a city/town do their own broadband networks would be just fine for America. They’d do it cheaper and better than a telco like T or VZ. And the foolish Executives who keep saying 10meg is good enough broadband makes me wonder what is the broadband speeds in their homes? If 10 is good enough show the world that is what you have Mr. Stankey, and the rest of your ilk. If 10 is good enough why have gig? So foolish T is.
I live in an area that AT&T has the Land Line concession and my phone goes down a few times a month. At&T doesn't provide broadband and cell service from AT&T is almost non-existent. I'm forced to use sprint because I cant depend on my land line to work in emergencies. I could buy wireless internet but those out here who have it are disappointed with the service and it's expensive. I still use dial up as do many neighbors.
If T is going to be the LL provider then they need to upgrade to fiber and provide broadband also.
I hope the municipal gets into the business as I'll jump ship and drop my AT&T LL, go VOIP and buy Sling TV service.

10mb is fast enough. Municipalities don't need to deploy. Stink will accept gov. money and not deploy.

So, Stink thinks rotten T broadband service is great, but he wants to sell this silly ATTTV which requires a high-speed connection. Then he gets sand up his vaggie when cities decide they might offer high-speed service to their population.
Anyone else see the problem with T 'leadership'?
