Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Salary Analysis

A couple weeks ago on a all hands meeting Jeetu mentioned Cisco was in the middle of doing a salary analysis on how the company pays compared to our competitors. He mentioned it would be completed in May. It's now June. Anyone know the results of this analysis or was this lies as well? This is the infamous meeting where Jeetu got blasted for the lack of promotions and poor raises if any Cisco gives.

Just because they revisit the MRR doesn't mean you will get anything out of it. If you were barely above and then fall below it your manager (during the cycle) can spend all of his budget to get you into the zone (ding everyone else), he can give an amount to get you closer, or he can do nothing at all. Totally a shame that HR wouldn't just take care of that without ki----g the manager's budget to do this.

Florida? God it would be awful to live there.

The unfortunate reality is that Cisco's lack of innovation over the past two decades has limited their ability to increase their wallet share with customers. In fact, given the movement of so many workloads to the cloud, most customers are cutting their Cisco spend.

The only way for Cisco to survive financially is to cut costs. There are much better companies, who are growing their customer wallet share, if you're looking to ride a growth wave and increase your personal compensation.

There is no perk of being a homeowner in the Bay Area. I sold my home to move to Florida last year, and a large portion went to capital gains. Don't believe the hype!

Unless you are already a homeowner in the Bay Area. Good luck raising a family in the Bay Area on an IC salary at Cisco. Salaries are ideal for college hires that rent closets and Directors with RSUs.

I've been here for 13 years and haven't gotten a raise in 7 years. All I've seen are declining perks, dozens of offices being closed, the loss of funds for labs, shifting management that are only in it for themselves, it goes on and on. "Oh, you haven't gotten a raise because the cost of living hasn't gone up!". Have you looked around lately at the prices of gas, food, lumber, medication and pretty much everything?

just got my RSU letter this morning. Love this company. I suggest if you hate it so much, then quit. take your awesome talent some place else. The rest of us drones will get along fine without you. And if you've already left, wtf are you doing here, reading this?

Promotions for even quite young females to director seem to be happening. We got a new one recently and she barely half my age.

Maybe they will take back the promos and raises from those who didn't deserve them and will give it to those that do.

Only in your dreams.

Once Cisco stopped doing performance reviews and ranking people to award the top performers and cull the bottom 5%, performance based compensation went out the door. Even with it, too many managers abused it and used the ranking system to give bonuses to golfing buddies/suck ups and sc--w the newest members of the team until they were replaced with new "new people' to sc--w over.

I mean, the pay was excellent.

That HUGE bonus after they laid me off was an excellent part of my compensation.

But seriously, other companies do pay better.

In fairness to Jeetu, he hasn't been at the company all that long and he might believe what they tell him.

Be careful what you wish for. They’re more likely to give everyone a pay cut. As they did to all the SEs.

I took the ER in Oct and was thinking that I'd have to take a pay cut when I started applying for jobs. Two offers came in and both at a higher base. Same WFH options (during normal time), bonuses and yearly stock, not just at promotion time. This is in the RTP area,

The key is to be the highly paid consultant whose job it is to determine that Cisco employees are paid the exact right amounts.
