Today I quit my job at Nike without another job lined up. Why you may ask? This company is an embarrassment and shouldn’t even be included in the Top 5000 places to work. I’ve watched racism, sexism, ageism, and many other isms take place by various levels of leadership. This company once was something I’d be proud to stand behind. That Nike cared about work life balance. Cared about their employees. Maybe it’s always been like this, but the curtain is down. At least they were fake caring. But now people have stopped pretending. The only action Nike takes comes from bad press and even then it’s laughable actions. My little post here doesn’t matter to many. I just hope all the good Nike people know you’re valued! You are just not valued by the Dr. Evils in executive or VP level positions. I wish you all the luck in the future Nike. I always thought it would be checks over stripes. I’d rather go barefoot then wear either shoe brand at this point. Funny enough may not be able to afford either since I quit with out a plan. But I’d rather be broke and happy then to be living “comfortable” and miserable. This place has made me miserable. Don’t recommend peers/colleagues to work at Nike - especially not in Global Technology. So many amazing people here that are undervalued and underpaid. Sometimes we just have to say enough is enough. The bonus isn’t even worth it anymore. That shiny new leadership we got is just fake gold that gives us green marks when we wear it.

Heard so many bad things about Nike Tech, I worked with a few very decent engineers there, too bad they all left this year. I work at analytics (not in Tech), feel everything is still in order, managers treat people with respect, great wlb, pay is just ok, for sure no where close to tier 1 tech and tier 2 tech companies. is it just some bad seeds like Tech in Nike? Anyway, I'm actively interviewing just to check the job market and be prepared.
The new Nike CEO is a Tech person, worked at SErviceNow, who is lying to him about what is going on at Nike.
@1yza are there really lawsuits against dj RL already? I knew he was(is) in over his head, but I hadn't heard about him being openly racist and sexist until now.
I am glad I left when I did. It sounds like tech is a mess right now.
The lawsuits against RL for his openly sexist and racist behaviors and constant bullying of employees are mounting. It’s no coincidence the exodus of senior diverse talent is happening.
I have been in the Portland IT Market "small world" for almost 20 years. I spent half that at Nike. I can tell you its an open "secret" among us veterans that you dont want to ever work in Nike Tech. Anyone who asks me I steer them away unless they just want to do a year or two as a resume builder. A terrible place where you will be expected to work 365x24x7, while being literally yelled at and demeaned by incompetent and psychopathic leadership. They rely on fooling people outside the Portland area with their top notch branding and marketing scams.
Yep I did too. Very scary but so much better than the alternative. Hang in there - great things are in store for you starting with a restoration of your mental health.
Nike has no business trying to be an IT organization. So much wasted money creating tools that get rarely used as they are super bad about adoption and support. Teams just find off the shelf solutions that suit their needs better and provide better support.
You got offered a bonus??? I guess ETW's really do screwed over... I don't even have holidays or real health insurance. All I will say is it's rough out there looking for another job, companies are being unrealistic with job requirements and expectations for canidates. Good luck.
