Round one for bammel will be this Friday, expect service dept and some office support roles to get cuts.

Real update is the entire service dept is a sinking ship if you didn't lose your job today you will eventually.
Ask yourself this what does the service dept do? They work on drilling equipment.
When is the last time someone bought new equipment? The work you have now is on old stuff. Eventually your going to run out of work if nothing new comes out.
Its easy to see the writing on the wall. Nov already gave up on land rig work, trying to keep a whole company afloat on offshore work only.
Nov is going to diversify and change and they will survive. But most of the nov you know today is the old dying way. Those of you thinking its gonna turn around, it's not some might survive but it wont be the same
Nothing happened today? No layoffs in Service department? Does anyone have a real update?
If the source of the information makes you feel better your likely one of the guys that should not be working there.
Bet your one of those techs that spends more time in your bunk than on the rig floor.
It's ok I hear there are lots of places hiring now. McDonald's, bestbuy, chick fil a. You know all the places you are actually qualified to work

At this point the service dept has no one left that has a clue. Every tech left there should be grateful to have a job. They didn't keep it cause they knew what they were doing.
There are actually alot of techs that should be let go this is not for them, they are way over their heads.
But I guess if you suck at your job nov can charge the customer more day rate while you pretend to be a tech.
Unfortunately, it will probably be another case of letting go of the wrong ones and keeping the real problems around. The issue will sort itself out eventually, but by that time it will be too late.
