Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I'm out

After a lot of searching and talking it over with my wife, I accepted a job that comes with a 25 percent pay cut. I just can't stand working here anymore and having to deal with my airhead manager who keeps lying to his superiors to make himself look good and pushes us under the bus every chance he gets. We ended up paying for every mistake that was his and his alone fault. I'm tired of the constant stress of having to work with somebody like that. A pay cut is a small price to pay for some peace of mind.

And now if you get a divorce it’ll cost you 25% less! Woot!

THIS is the way to do it! I wish I had done it about 10 years sooner. I didn't have the support system though. Oh well, best.

Not sure how you guys are negotiating those jobs. I took another one at a MUCH higher pay. My suggestion would be to not rush into accepting anything. Play it hard first. They'll come back with a match. Companies out there are aware of the situation and will try to lowball.
