Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Time for changes ! Infosys - Union - Tech

I read a lot of these post and here’s what I can gather. The IT folks sold out by VZ hate the company, the Mgmnt Employees hate the union, and the union workers are co--y lazy and arrogant.

So here’s where everyone can capitalize. The truth is VZ wants to be a tech company but they will never ever achieve that with the ingredients it has, ( India , Managers, Union )

The only way they can achieve this is to actually make the tech jobs union, agree on a better contract that actually allows the company to fire bad workers, train union in the high tech space. Union can handle basic IT administration tasks without needed to outsource. They have no choice because unless they want a political fight they will have to renew the contract. There is no way the union will just go away.

IT professionals with actual valid skills will have to unionize eventually.

Then the union haters will have no choice to comply, managers will actually manage and India can go to he-l.

Did you see NY Times article on Amazon workplace? Unions are needed to keep management honest.

I think @gvm's fictional autobiography is a nice touch.
They include some financial info so you might be amazed at what they have, or ridicule them for how far behind they are.
In the second part, they try to establish that they have a entrepreneur/manager mindset. They also try to show their intelligence with the claim of a masters degree. All to set up as an authority in whatever field they need to operate in.
They're ask a seemingly innocent question requesting education so they can understand, and when you lower your guard... Answering in good faith, the trap is sprung.

@gvm+1bn0ThKs, yet another transparent attempt at turning this thread into a union/management showdown.
If you've spent any time here (and I know you have) you've seen many answers to this question already.

Ok so let be be clear I could honestly care less, I have 24 years as a union employee. I’ve saved over 700k in my 401k and have a pension worth about 500k.

I understand why many hate the union, it literally holds a person back, however it’s up to that person to take advantage and do what’s best for themselves. I’ve established a good side business to fall back on when I leave VZ and I’ve earned my masters degree if I decide to ever work for another big company (which honestly I prob won’t)

But I like to hear a union haters solution. If Verizon was to say FU to the union what would that do for you? Answer logically please, I’m curious.

The dishonest, underhanded tactics exhibited in this thread are examples of why union members shouldn't be trusted with work from home.
If you face the choice of unionizing or not, consider that this is the type of people you will be aligning yourselves with if you choose union.

And... Here's the obligatory anti union jab to try to get things back on track.
Try to make it look like we can't see what he's doing.

Wrong. Everyone hates the union and its dregs of society.

Yeah, he did the same thing here...

@1gum+1bmzp9ri

Just one copy, but intentionally long with extra blank lines to create distance from the embarrassing parts.

I like the two copies of the same long post with unnecessary spacing.
Trying to push the incriminating post down.
Nice misdirect.

@izm+1bn0ThKs: do you think he has a folder filled with a bunch of posts and responses just so he can mix and match a thread?

Think of it this way...

This is one example ..

if your a CCNP and in the union your protected, the company can’t just cut you and outsource to India.

The problem is the union leadership is too stupid to see that. They think field ops is enough to protect them into the future, not true, also the company has been issuing the technology clause in the contract for years to surplus union jobs. Only way union survives is become high tech.

The other scenario is the union will eventually fold with little to no responsibility left. In that case honestly everyone looses, VZ finds there workers in India and managers go back to being useless fools. :)

1000% agree with those other posts. VZ India is worthless and should be disbanded. They are the #1 reason why we have IT layoffs in the first place. And they don’t have a clue what is best for Verizon sales employees who use our Point Of Sale systems nor How American customers use our online VZW.com systems

The best option is to cut VZ India completely out of the Picture. Use only onshore American workers living in the States. And stop using contractor vendors like InfoSys and Cognizant . Quality will go way way way up if this happened.

Outsourcing with InfoSys & Cognizant and using VZ India up to 90% of what was done by Full Time Verizon employees in the States has hurt the Quality of the products and services IT use to offer.

VZ India ..... Big Mistake. InfoSys ..... Bigger Mistake. Leadership makes mistakes.... its now Time for them to fix this Mistake. Disband VZ India. Dissolve agreement with Infosys & Cognizant . Lets put Quality ahead of saving a few $$$$ short term. This fix will save $$$$$ long term.
