Job hunt

Job hunting is weird.

I get when there's no response to an application. I even understand when they ask, what's your salary range and when answered they don't answer. What I don't get is:

Are you still interested in the position?

[Reasonably polite yes with relevant contact information.]

And ghosted.

There's simply not enough room to sc--w it up, and it is a reasonably prompt response,

What exactly is wrong with "thank you for reaching out. I am interested in the position. I can be reached at...

Once again, thank you for your time,
Sincerely,

Never going to hear from you again.

What's the right response?

Sometimes they have not finalized the JD for the role especially if it is a new headcount/position they are looking for or they are consolidating the batch of candidates (sometimes a few batches), or the key personnel are on vacation/on leave and takes time to get back.

There are various reasons why they take time to get back to you.
Don't give up OP! Hang in there! :)

The recruiters are salespeople, cutthroat and their job is to place the cheapest most qualified to their client. They work the margins for themselves so the bigger the spread the more commish they make. It is akin to the oldest profession. Ghosting is a part of it as it is an indicator that they have moved on to other possible candidates.
