Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

You can't be a good person and succeed here

It feels like to succeed at CVX, you have to sell your soul to the devil. That's something I'm not willing to do.

It wasn’t like this many years ago! But a serious change occurred about 10 years ago. I’m so glad that I EOI’d in 2020. Not sure how those remaining will put up with the kiss a-s b.s.

I thank God every day it crosses my mind to have worked at Chevron for the 30 years I was employed there. I EOI’ed in 2016 after having enough of the downhill changes I saw going on 10 years prior. I put up with the slow ride down for obvious reasons, it was a career I have invested a lifetime and the money and benefits were plenty good. It provided me the excellent retirement I enjoy today. I thank God for all that and I thank Chevron for most of it. But, I’m blessed to have left the company with my health and sanity. I cannot believe the stark difference this company had become comparing Day 1 to the last day I left the building. For those who remain behind, who knew the company I once admired, you have my condolences for what you still need to put up with. You’ll have your reasons for staying on, probably the same reasons I had for putting in my final 10 years. Good luck.

@1cfg, I will give you a hint , since it's apparent that you are struggling with science. To get the water out of your boots look for the instructions on the "sole", There you go! Who says that I don't try to help people now?

Yes I know it is demoralizing to pump gas all day when you know your costumers will to use it to increase global warming... you should leave to save your sole. Me I will party on getting well paid to find the stuff you pump.

Sure, you have not succeeded because you don't want you. If you wanted to, you would have.

Said a looser.

The ideal worker = Open to ideas; team player; diligent/intelligent; Nice. Most at Chevron do not possess these qualities - not even one.

Problem is the worst examples of these people makes you want to generalize for the entire population. If you loved equal opportunity before, you are now left slightly racist or misogynistic.

Most of the good people are gone. It’s Lord of the Flies, corporate edition.

I sold my soul to the almighty dollar the day I found out the tooth fairy left me $20 for my front tooth. It’s been all about Black Gold since the Beverly Hi--------s had a hit show in the 70s. This place is no different than any other profit driven American corporation. I love every minute of it.

It’s why I chose to EOI. It’s headed in a direction that my moral values don’t agree with.
