Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Instant and Turbonomic

So with the recent acquisitions of both Instana and Turbonomic in the monitoring/observability space where does that leave Tivoli and its products?

Looks to me IBM is ready to jettison all the Tivoli stuff… comments?

"Though Tivoli is a lot more than monitoring software for the mainframe... "

Point is, if Tivoli is to be "ripped and replaced"... it provides services that products outside of T + I's scope will need.

Just guessing that's more pain and expense than IBM Development will want.

Agreed, it may still mean reductions in Tivoli Services Team if fewer products (the distributed TEMS using products) are to be migrated away from.

Just a guess.

I can see heads rolling there...

Tivoli Enterprise Management Services (TEMS) is used by mainframe products like the Omegamon Suite, among others.

If they are going to decomm Tivoli, they'd have to be replacing mainframe tools... not sure Turbonomic + Instant covers all that ground?

Just a quick look gives me the idea that T + I is "Cloud Based" and not really aimed at z/Cloud type stuff.

FWIW, Rocket has been doing at least some of the Dev on Tivoli and related for some time. So in a sense Tivoli is already "outsourced".
