Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

When is a better time to quit?

I'm thinking about leaving Nike because lack of career growth and mediocre compensation, recently got two offers but still negotiate and continue interviewing. I know RSU vesting is on 9/1, so if I give my two-week notice in late August and have my last day after 9/1, would I still get RSU vested (granted from previous years)? Or they just show me the doorway right after I give my notice in August to avoid vesting my RSU?

Do your homework and speak with your financial advisor. For any vested stock options you have 90 days (days, not biz days) to sell. Make sure you’re ready for that. RSU’s are like ESPP so they are yours when vested. But agree with other poster, make sure that shot is in your account and yours before giving notice.

I agree with the statement that it's best to wait until vesting date for notice. Nike is in cost cutting mode and there is no telling what they will do.

I would use it in negotiations - and have. They can either reimburse you for what you're about to walk away from if they are in a hurry, or wait for a couple weeks after vesting. Might depend on the amount. If they say no to either option you may want to reconsider how they'll treat you in the future.

@OP, If you are adamant about getting your RSUs, do not submit your two-weeks notice until end of day on 9/1/2021 or even 9/2/21. There is no guarantee that Nike will not show you the doors the day you submit your resignation two weeks prior to 9/1. That also depends on when you will start your new position; do not overlap start date date with a new org with the date of your last day at Nike. How will you explain that at background check time?
