Meritocracy?

How can we pretend this place is a meritocracy when we have fully embraced equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity. Equality of opportunity is required for a meritocracy. Equality of outcome is counter to a meritocracy.

All this code-word gibberish - just sp-t out what you mean to say.

And re: quoty post.
It was a Character created by George Orwell that said that.
The fattest swine, as I recall, in Animal Farm.

I like to refer to it as MeritocraZy because we are all not on a level playing field. A quote from George Orwell sums this up best: "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others."

Meritocracy is simply a carrot that is dangled in front of workers to have them work harder and perpetuate the myth that if we all work really hard we will all become CEOs. Last time I checked there is only one CEO!

@aco You and the OP are just mad because you have to work with people other than middle-aged white heteros-xual men*. If you want to post your grievances about a changing society do it on Breitbart.

*Whenever you see a post talking up “meritocracy” or “equality of outcomes” it’s a safe bet that it was written by an aggrieved member of this group who doesn’t like anyone who isn’t a member of it.

Agree OP. We should be promoting based on contribution not what group someone belongs to and trying to reach a target of people from that group being in a certain percentage of certain roles.

@OP Meritocracy has always been a myth. Groups gain power and influence, develop a shared sense of affinity, and give themselves more power and influence.

Ditch the “equality of outcomes” BS. It doesn’t apply in the corporate sector. If anyone was so good at what they did so as to validate this point, there would be no job cuts or outsourcing to begin with.
