Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Dear LL6: Stop othering the the GSR

As a GSR, do you feel othered by the supervisory staff and outdated notions of management. Do think they will apply pressure to return to the office when we have already proven we can effectively work from home?

It will be interesting to see if they offer another voluntary based on this very dynamic- people scattered across the county not or not wanting to come back to SE MI. The return to office timing certainly lines up with the roll out of another voluntary. My guess is they would get more takers than they could ever dream of and finally rid themselves of their over 40 workforce.

I remember when othered and microagressions and diversity (meaning everybody must believe the same thing) and other orwellian newspeak was not common in the auto industry.

Those were the good old days.

This is a work in progress and time is needed to collect the data to understand how effective this will be. Prior to Covid the majority of us went to work every day. Covid hit, the majority of us worked from home. Now data is needed to see what combination of both will be most effective.

I've been back since the shutdown ended but it will be interesting to see how some of my colleagues deal with it once they are told to come back. Most of whom are up north at their cottages or out of state staying with relatives.

Agree... Stop pretending you are more productive at home. IT makes sense to WFH for many positions. You are going back sooner than you think. Tuesday cannot come quick enough... Lol

I am looking forward to coming back to the office. Then I'll get to take company test cars home for my own personal use and enjoyment. Then the abusers will have to share again.

(Hint, they're not going to like that one bit)

Many moving to their cottages, building houses, spending most of there time at their boat clubs....Lol

The only workers I can see being at home are programmers and you wonder why Ford has so many recalls...Lol

Lazy with inflated Ego's.

Absolutely. Most LL6 did not attain it by technical excellence but rather political office dynamics. Therefore what are they if they do not have people to 'lord' over as well as have access opportunities to pursue their own self enrichment. Productivity and work for the company is not their goal, trying to force people back into buildings is for their personal selfish interest. Senior mgt should watch & listen and use this as an indicator to sort out the toxicity within their ranks. The ones pressing the hardest to drag people in the office are the ones who should be shown the proverbial door. If they are serious about changing the old toxic Ford culture THEY MUST correct that or nothing will EVER change. And so if they don't, then they need to just shut the heck up about culture.
